You have two choices, accept a crap deal or gamble with your employment.
If Royal Mail go under then there are plenty of competitors to carve up our business, who knows you may have to take up employment with one of our rivals on inferior terms to what we have just been offered.
I'll agree with that :thumbup I suppose it boils down to how much you value your current job? Some jobs are easier than others in RM. :cuppa
Which jobs are easier than others?

In reality this is not a good deal but to reject it and strike and think we will get a better deal I don't think we can or will get a better deal. Think of this as a retreat a tactical withdrawal lost the battle but live to fight again there is no point fighting till the last man/woman this is a hopeless cause. Thing is in reality it is royal mail who have lost as they have lost our good will and the dressing room because doing as little as possible is the only way forward out of this mess caused by them!

Despite for years trying to make all duties "Equal" they never are. Same people finish early ever day, others have Cushy Overtime deals, some have use of vans giving FREE transport to and from work (that alone would save me £100 a month). Some have extra allowances like Work Place Coach, Drivers and MC Staff that aren't walking up to 10 miles a day the list is endless.

Everyone's obviously going to be looking at how the Pay Deal affects THEIR own little world, and vote accordingly. Some people will have a Better/Easier job to defend, others may think their crap job isn't worth worrying about. :cuppa

I agree with losing the goodwill & dressing room but I also think a resounding no is better than accepting this deal. RM has run its course as a private company. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was broken up either way over the next year or two wether in private hands or making a stance and it collapsing with the government having to step in to provide a postal service. Either way the CWU is finished in the workplace.

I take it you have never worked in a MC on a machine for hours on end for decades, foot problems and bad backs from constantly twisting and bending down and lifting trays of Mail weighing up to 10kg.
As for whinging about what allowances people receive why don't you apply for one of those jobs..

Ha Ha Bit touchy there aren't you Milly? :Very Happy No I haven't worked in a MC and I feel your pain, but then I bet you've never work in a Delivery Office either?

I have however got friends who have transferred to MCs from Delivery and they've explained the differences. They've said they'd NEVER transfer back into Deliveries. As for applying for WPC jobs that again shows your lack of Delivery Experience. In Deliveries most of these kinds of jobs are "Dead Man's Shoes", normally held by someone that's been taking the money for decades (but doing bugger all) and has no intention of giving it up. :cuppa

Well I'm impressed Milly :Applause

And where have you been working for these last "Decades"? Not in Delivery was it? I think you guys find it hard to imagine just what an impact a lot of these changes are having on the streets .... suddenly being given large ammounts of extra work to do in the same timespan .... with the associated extra walking involved. You think your feet hurt in the MC, try walking 50 miles ... Every week mate!

I think the moral of this story is: If you've got a cushy number just be grateful, and enjoy it, don't start winding people up. :cuppa

Thing is we are all stuck between a rock and a hard place given that they donated £567 MILLION and they need change because they don't have any money. So do as little as they are offering no motivation in this workplace anymore with the imbalance of the super rich vs the oppressed. Use that agreement and hold them to account by knowing it and all the other agreements. If somehow RM did go bust all the agreements pay terms conditions and even statutory redundancy may not be paid out so think on. This dispute was exacerbated by the conservatives who allowed strike breaking flying agency workers, So we were up against it from the start and the laws of the land that were enacted by strike buster ADVISORS! so when the time comes vote for a different government!
