If you read my three posts you might have noticed I am very pro union, and anti stupid people who are looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Vote yes to accept what I think is a good deal, considering we have all endured hardship and financial suffering for over a year.

We are lucky to still have jobs considering the strike action has cost the company £200M, and we are losing public support in the middle of a deep recession and food prices at 17.2 inflation.

If there had never been a dispute and today it was announced that our sick policy and pay would be changed for the worse, our finishing times would be at least an hour later and potentially 90 minutes later, we would be working for longer in the winter and get the time back next summer, we can be made to flex up 30 minutes, we can be performance managed on the PDAS and new starters would be on worse terms and conditions but in return we would get a below inflation payrise of just 6% for the year and a small lump sum

Would this be exclaimed as a good deal by us?!

It would be grounds for balloting for industrial action in itself!

I'm sorry Martin, I know you're just the messenger but this deal is completely unacceptable - just the pay alone is a slap in the face.

2% last year, against 11% inflation
6% this year, against 11% inflation
2% next year, against (at best) 4% inflation

So we've gone from 'an inflation busting payrise' to a 17% pay cut.

This against the backdrop of a 20% rise in food prices, a huge rise in energy prices, a huge rise in rental prices, a huge rise in mortgage rates - and that's not even getting into what a lot of members gave up.

18 days of strike action, 18 days of lost pay - 18 days that's lost from our pensions, that's lost us annual leave, that'll get pro-ratad out of bonus payments. All in all some members (me included) have probably lost thousands of pounds once it's all added up - some of that lost during the worst time of year to lose it.

That's before we get onto the unacceptable changes to the terms and conditions.

Members gave the Union two huge strike mandates, unwavering support and 18 days of strike action...and in return you're giving us a 17% pay cut and f***ing the terms and conditions of the majority of the members.

I'm sad so many were brainwashed by the CWU. If you stood back from the bluster you could see what was coming. Up to the members now, do you want to keep your job with the new conditions and pay or risk loosing it.

Even if Royal Mail can't play with their shiny new parcel machines and force everyone to work 3 hours later, I still can't see us ever going bust.

The union have backed down from the position of strength at the end of 2022, to one of giving up in 2023.

They're clearly not willing to take on the fight with RM even though the members are.


Seems as though there is a disconnect somewhere. Hopefully a no result on the ballot will fix that.

It's a very disappointing deal let's face it. After listening to my work pals, members on the Facebook group chat and looking at the current poll on here it's evident that the VAST majority of the members will vote NO on this deal.
10% over three years, (well 8% over the next two years) with a taxable £500 pro rata of which part timers will probably get less than £200 after tax is derogatory.
It's not just that, the new terms are a joke. Many offices have already forced through changes in their offices including ours. We have unachievable work loads, duties taken out and the postie's that were on the said duties are back down to reserve, these are guys that have been here 30 years.

Some of the damage has already been done and believe you me there will be more changes and the work load will only get harder still. So that 10% over 3 years and a crappy little carrot dangler just does not do it for me and no amount of persuasion or having this broken down into simple terms doesn't wash with me.
