Im glad the 6% is coming this year if voted through. I have no trust that royal mail would pay it next year.
I understand this point of view for choosing this option. I am happy with it even if it wasn't the reason the CWU went for it.

Pay deal is absolutely fine with me. Obviously wouldn't have complained if we got a 50% pay rise and a £5000 lump sum....

But 10% is fair.
How is 10% fair?
Inflation 2022 was 10.4%
Inflation so far in 2023 is 10.2% ON TOP OF THE 10.4% from 2022.
Sunak say he wants to half inflation (as if he has shown how to control it so far) so maybe, if we are lucky, it will only be 5% in 2024.

That equates to a total of 30 f***ing percent 2022-2024 FFS.

How is 10% fair?????

So you’re saying you’ll do that 30 mins for free then do some extra? Get a grip they will insist that the only overtime is scheduled attendance from here on, all leave will be covered by lapsing not absence overtime
I don’t do anything for free. No overtime and the jobs don’t get cleared. Again please point me to where in the agreement it says no overtime and only SA (which isn’t technically overtime anyway)?
What are you not understanding? it’s what hasn’t been said read between the lines! It’s no wonder we’re in the mess we are. Also doesn’t say that come next summer when they owe you a 35 hour week that that won’t be torn up as well, but I’m planning for that scenario amongst others

And yes you will be doing it for free when they move you to 39 hours over the winter and pay you for 37

Cant change start times by more than 30 minutes or sick policy without an agreement
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Why is it different for those 2 issues?

They are contractual

Thats why its so important for RM to get a collective agreement with the union for start and finish times and sick pay
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

So your original point doesn’t stand up, overtime rate could be 50 quid an hour, makes no difference cos there won’t be any

Depends where you work in Royal Mail. Overtime (S/A) is built into your duty every day.

With the introduction of the seasonal hours starting in autumn, this year we will be working 28 hours extra for free. If you take that off the £500 lump sum you're left with about £125 (and that's before you take deductions off it).

The £1500 lump sum came with 2% followed by 6%, whilst the £500 came with 6% followed by 2%.

If you took the 6% this year, your pay goes from 25k to 26.5k plus £500 lump sum =27k paid 23-24
If you take the 2% this year your pay goes to 25.5k plus £1500 lump sum =27k paid 23-24
So it's the same, and then your next pay rise sees you at 27,030 in both instances.

If the lump sum was pensionable then they both work out the same, if not then you're best off taking the £500 to improve your basic pay earlier. The 6% rise this year would also flow to overtime etc. So quickly worth more than the larger lump sum.
That's not right. Leave the lump sum aside for a moment. After 2 years your salary is 27,030.
25000 X 1.02 x 1.06 = 27030
or 25000 X 1.06 x 1.02 = 27030

But with option 1/ you've had an additional 1500 lump sum
With option 2 you've had an additional 500 lump sum

This was covered to death in an earlier thread
I accept that you get to the same end salary, but the £500 lump sum sees you paid 1k extra in the first year, which is the difference between the two lump sums. I tried to explain it in detail and apologise if i wasn't clear enough.
The benefit of the 6% in year 1 vs 2% is that the extra 1k on that year's pay is all pensionable and flows through to overtime and allowances.
The CWU number crunchers quickly realised that the £1500 lump sum would actually save the business a lot of money in 23-24.

From 17th april 2023 all SA’s are now generic, ie you WILL do and go where ever you are told to go when reporting on SA

It's based on RM's attitude of clearing the office in general. They have gone on record and said one of the company's biggest financial cost to the businesses is in fact overtime and want to reduce it by 50%. Hell, I've been staring at a round that hasn't been out in nearly over a week after guy has been off on leave. They literally don't care long as they are saving money and guaranteed people rush around to complete the round by coming in for free to clear it. Or they'll back on posties working their day's off because they are afraid of walking into days worth of mail like there are doing now. It's all f****d up, yeah they might get some overtime, but wouldn't even be by choice at this point. It's a sham the union didn't even negotiate for the overtime rate to go out neither.

I don't think it's a coincidence there's a policy in there that would require you to work for free. They know, and now forcing everyone else to do it now as oppose to some people doing it. Wouldn't even surprise me if they would go after the paid breaks since there are people that work through them too. They are a lot aware of what's going on in the workplace than they let on. The seasonal hours is also a kick in a teeth since people do overtime during the winter for Christmas. Doing longer hours means less chance of overtime.
