Re: Agreement reached v offer before xmas
Thats ehat the bigwigs want a race to the bottom in standards for the working class rather than better conditions for all... Just because other employers don't pay breaks or don't have a good sick pay system doesn't make it fair and right... This whole system in our cou try is backwards rather than saying well if thry don't then we won't it should be we do so you should!

Re: Agreement reached v offer before xmas
thing is that this pay deal would have happened anyway as our wages would have dropped to below minimum wage in 3 years

Not really, my 50 hour a week contract at Sports Direct still included the unpaid breaks. As was the same at my other places of employment. But I get what you mean.To be fair most employers don't pay breaks, so technically a full timer is already on 32 hours a week?
I'm turning purple!

I suspect the main difference is that at Christmas the company wasn't threatening to commit suicide. A real stable relationship.
The machine stops.

Re: Agreement reached v offer before xmas
The way this company has treated us over the past year no one should vote for whatever crap they come up with,we are the ones that have made the millions and we should all make a stand until it's us that tells them what's gonna happen.
From the failed postie's that run are office's that couldn't and certainly can't do what we do now all the way up to pen pushers at the top
If we all stood our ground and go off sick for a month
...........
Any preference on what month
Seriously though this company treat's is work force like utter dog s**t£

Re: Agreement reached v offer before xmas
Yes I worked this out a couple of days ago just out of interest, a 37hr full timer at our office is on 33hr40 minutes a week taking into account we now have one day at 7hrs attendance so 30 mins break that day the rest 40, so including the delivery supplement that works out at £13.93 per hour before deductions.
Someone on here disputed that way of working it out including paid breaks but as far as I'm concerned my wage divided by the hours I have to actually work equals my hourly rate.

Re: Agreement reached v offer before xmas
There are too many "key areas" because Royal Mail always throw every proposal they can think of into negotiations in the hope that they can make some of them stick. Things like 10,000 compulsory redundancies, mandatory Sundays and commit to deliver were never ever serious proposals.FilthyBloke wrote: ↑18 Apr 2023, 14:11There are too many key areas that won’t please all of the posties.
Start times or pay rise or workload or whatever else it is means that a lot of people have different priorities on the deal.
It’s going to be interesting how it pans out.
And how the CWU will try to sell it as the best deal available. I don’t think it’ll be much different to the deal they told its members was ‘derisory’ at the start of the dispute so I’m thinking there might be a gold nugget somewhere in it to sway the majority.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Hmm not sure you understand inflation and how its measured.stan_lers wrote: ↑18 Apr 2023, 14:43Inflation over the time covered by the pay deal offered a few weeks ago will be something like 25-30%.derricksmyth wrote: ↑18 Apr 2023, 06:36I know , so with inflation mostly at 10% for the past year, we have effectively taken a 8% hit over the past 12 months!!claystones wrote: ↑18 Apr 2023, 05:11Its not a 10% deal we have already had the imposed 2% last year thats gone it will probably be 8% over the next 2 years crap
So Royal Mail get everything they want and we get a paycut in return.

Re: Agreement reached v offer before xmas
I would expect most delivery staff to reject this deal given the amount of grief you are all getting nationwide, processing staff would definitely vote yes in my humble opinion simply because they have not been subjected to the same level of suffering!..we shall see soon enough..
