I'm still struggling to see how this is a good idea, currently if we leave a card the recipient can choose to have the item redelivered when it's convenient for them rather than us automatically bringing it back the next day when it's unlikely they'll be in, so what's the advantage?
Traditionally the royal mail way is to copy what DPD etc do so if this is an example of our own groundbreaking s**t hot ideas then the competition must be shitting themselves

Apparently the trial office managed to redeliver 70% of the parcels which otherwise would have been 739d, thus saving on the booking in time, redelivery palaver and Customer Service Point time.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
If I know Royal Mail like I think I know Royal Mail, the item will be redelivered the next day while the customer simultaneously books it in for another day
So according to RM you can’t pick up your parcel until after the auto re delivery So you really need the parcel but your postie doesn’t get to your address until you are away to work but previously you could have called in to the CSP on your way to work to pick up your parcel. Now you will have to wait 2 days to get your parcel

True.
But this isn't about helping the recipient, whatever RM may claim. There are heaps of ways they could use tech to ensure tracked items were delivered at a time of and to a place of the recipient's choosing before even a first attempt is made.
This is about cutting costs and appeasing the sender (technically fulfilling the 'next day' target by attempting delivery, cutting down calls into callers' offices so that hours there may be cut - and eventually them just done away with, which I'm sure we'll be told is 'industry standard')
Or the postie has to cut off and not even make the delivery, genius!
We will probably end up prioritising the parcels. The ones that weren't delivered yesterday vs the ones that should be delivered today that probably won't be delivered today
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
Crazy idea. As a customer if i'm not in I want to be able to get my parcel the next day , not have to wait another day! Also will need to get some 739's printed out coz we're down to our last few in our office.

Sounds good but did they actually successfully deliver them or did they try a bit harder to either "safeplace" them or deliver to neighbour just to get shut knowing that if they didn't they'd have to try again the next day, we don't know and never will.
Or as I suspect is it just the same bollocks they publish in the courier or on rmtv expecting us to actually believe it.
There's a lot off people on here get them self's all worked up just go in on time and finish on time and do what the mangers say to do in ur time at work what is left is up to them no stress as simon and Co says its there company to run not ares

What they’re probably not telling us is that the trial took place at Upper Ducks Bottom D.O. Which has about 15 deliveries, where they all know their customers probably because they’re related ,therefore the scale isn’t equal , I suspect in bigger offices it will be very difficult, especially at Christmas.
Is there anything else our alleged competitors do that we don't currently do? We've mimicked pickups, taking photos, now automatic redelivery. Doorstepping?
I'd quite happily try neighbours to get rid of stuff if it weren't for the fact that any slack on delivery is immediately crammed with even more lapsing.
