Conduct coded for not working hard enough??

Post by sixfoottwo »

I heard a colleague of mine was threatened with this today, is it possible?

They were at it hammer and tongs, pretty upsetting to see really and the union Rep was doing sweet FA i was told :no no

The colleague in question is the hardworking type, (not slow in my opinion) and a nice person not that means anything but lets just say they don't take the pish and always try their best every day.

The colleague reckons the screw has a personal issue with them as the walk they had was removed in the revision.

The colleague has recently signed for the duty (rural) and it has since gone through a revision which has added 100+ drops to it and apparently the person can't achieve 50% of it which the screw thinks is a conduct code issue ( Rep agrees, 50% "is a reasonable request")

Thoughts? I thought it was disgraceful the way the screw went about it, verged on bullying and harassment in my opionion.

They always have been able to, think it was called Non Culpable Inefficiency, but it was a very long-winded procedure. But now PDA actuals can work for you or against you, granted they'll never concede anything in your favour.
Really, never knew that! I just couldn't believe what was going on, felt sorry for the person.

In this situation it’s best to stay calm, ask in a polite but fair voice whether it’s the indoor or outdoor element that he’s supposedly not up to speed with. If they say indoor, ask for a prep test. If they inevitably say outdoor, ask what part exactly and ask for a manager to come out with them and show them where they are going wrong. Of course they’d do the job entirely to the book, no cutting corners.

If they refuse to come out, which they always do, just continue with the job and don’t react.

If they keep pressing, mention feeling bullied and harassed.

I’ve been in the same situation before. Managers often want confrontation and an argument. What they can’t cope with is a quiet but to the point composed reply.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Clearly criticises the rep's lack of action.

Instead of criticising him, maybe try helping with his question.

Sorry that isn't your agenda though, is it.
I'm turning purple!

Both, thought I'd made that clear to be honest. Rep was a disgrace.

What's the previous duty holder achieved as being unable to complete 50% of a duty, after a week or so of doing it, does seem a bit odd, anything less than 75% would raise eyebrows in my own DO.

Previous duty holder has took VR, he was a fulltimer who came in earlier than he should (without pay) to do IPS and of course prep his own duty too  PLUS the revisions were not in then, he of course completed every day

He was not a liked bloke shall we say!

Shouldn't matter what anyone else is able to achieve.

The questions are: are you meeting the standard? and what is the standard?

Also worth considering is: does the individual have any health needs that need addressing.
