Please see above a new poll to do with pensions. Would be interesting if all members vote on this one so we get a representative picture, well as far as we can on an on-line forum.

I have tried to cover all bases but if anyone comes up with one I missed please post a comment.

The poll may well reflect the one i posted some months ago!. BUT IT IS UP TO US ONE AN ALL TO SPREAD THE WORD FOR THIS IS OUR FUTURE AND NOT JUST OUR'S BUT OUR CHILDERN'S AND THIER'S!. PENSION'S WERE NOT GIVEN UNTO US BUT FOUGHT FOR BY OUR FOREFATHER'S!. AND WE NOW MUST DEFEND OUR PENSION!.

We will need every penny we can get when we hit old age, I will not vote for any change to the pension scheme which makes it more beneficial to
the company, and more importantly, less beneficial to we who will need it most.

Like most on here, I've no faith in the CWU leadership, the agreement they reached with Leighton & Crozier on pay and modernisation is nothing
short of being a damned disgrace, a sell-out of a membership who gave whole-hearted support of action to see off the sort of "flexible" nonsense we
are now having imposed, sorry, negotiated, on us.
And yet, I will strike again and again and again, however long it takes, to defend our pensions. Nothing, but nothing, grates the nerves of scum like
Leighton & Crozier more, than seeing ordinary working men and women like us withdrawing our labour and saying, "feck you."

Apart from anything else, what alternative is there to fighting scumbags like Leighton & Crozier..............Compliance?..............Take what they dish
out, on the chin?..................Lie down and let them trample all over us?.............Nope, sorry, we don't do any of them.

I take everyone back to those heady days when women were allowed to retire at 60 has been increased to 65, there is also talk of increasing the "normal" retiring age to 68 and RM are coming into line with what is standard for most people and so there isn't going to be a great deal of sympathy from the public many of whom in recent years don't have access to a company pension at all. Many people in industry have been robbed of their contributory pension and only now have the Government decided to take any action whatsoever, and this has been going on for decades certainly since Maxwell in the very early 90s.

So hands up all those who think RM and the Government are going to cave in at our displeasure and empty threats!

Yes and I've said as much before. The government will NOT bail out the pension and RM don't have it. I'm no more happy about it than the next man/woman but if anyone has a solution to the deficit that has any realistic chance of success then say so now. With so many private pensions wiped out completely - ie ALL their money gone and no help from government (I have relatives STILL in that situation even now), what will striking actually achieve??? All this 'all for one and one for all' is good to hear but it will achieve - nothing. A big fat zero (bit like Hayes really).

A day on strike only costs Â£40 or so so that's a small price to pay to annoy RM and their sniveling little weasel managers (and remember its cheaper than a night out on the town and the feeling is better and lasts longer

)

For you are quite right and of course it mean's Â£25 per postman/postwoman per strike day in lost govenment revenue, and a day of well earned rest for us all!.

With the last strike there was at least a 'hope' of success even if CWU HQ muffed it, but I honestly see no solution to this one. A strike does have to have some purpose. We could drag it out sure but that would leave RM looking for even MORE ways to cut costs, extend walks and so on. If it goes to the vote I'll walk out like everyone else but I still don't see it achieving anything - except worse grief. My guess is it won't get as far as strike action. CWU HQ will just make a lot of noise but thats about all.

As you say cwu will make a lot of noise but lets not forget Mr Wards words in his last letter to the membership on pension's quote "we will have the final say". Lets hope the final say is at the ballott box and ward and his like are voted out. That Mr Ward will be our final say.
