Have you ever considered why Trade Union Membership in the UK is at its lowest level in 50 years?
40 years of draconian anti trade union laws and the complete eradication of large scale industries which relied upon hundreds of thousands of workers. No industry, no need for unions.

Your next question

And why have those large unionized industries disappeared?

Let us look at the genesis of decline

British Leyland as an example

Next Question
The game's up, redlen. There's nothing you can say now. The game is up

Can say the same with a small minority of CWU Trolls who try and shut down any alternative view that does not fit the party line with insults and bullying behaviour. That includes the Socialist Worker/ Moaning Star editorials.
What are talking about? Really, you show time and time again that you haven't a clue.
[/accrI can see what he's talking about and I'm no manager/troll. This forum should be to put your viewpoint across even if it conflicts what you believe in. Just try and see other points of view otherwise we'll end up like Russia. There's been much insulting of people who don't strike for whatever their personal circumstances or reasons may be. It's not called for and is not nice.

Define the insults and bullying, i know you think when somebody calls you out that you are being bullied but thats not completely true. They just dont agree with you and are calling you out for telling porkies or googling some random answer and claiming its true, remember all those deadlines you gave us for fire/rehire? We all know who you really are yet you persist? Sad delusional or paid a wage to do a job on this site we can make our own minds up.

All the trade union examples you cite are in no way comparable (BL, NUM etc). The situation surrounding their decline was in a completely different environment. I was there; were you?

The real reason for the decline in trade union membership Its pretty simple and I'm surprised an individual of such towering intellect that you clearly are wasn't able to work it out. We don't have much in the way of industry nowadays; we're a service based economy - or didn't Wikipedia tell you that? The industries that do remain are much smaller than those of old. Couple that with the gratuitous implementation of trade union restricting legislation and a corporate work ethic that does not engage trade unions as a force for good in the way they do in Europe and it is almost inevitable that people struggle to see the good trade unions can bring to the table and therefore don't join.

Do let me know if there is something else you don't understand and Ill be happy to explain.

You might be respecting redlen a little too much. Remember that he overstepped the mark and let his mask slip. Yes he managed to get his comments deleted but some of us will never unsee them!

Now why did British Leyland go to the wall?

For your information that was before the UK became a service economy and Thatcher era as a root cause

Answers on a postcard as you seem to keep on evading the question

Will ignore as your comment is irrelevant based on personal politics and prejudice and is too painful for you to answer my question. It is called Cognitive Dissonance

Now how about answering my question for the third time of asking and you are now using insults as a deflection tactic?
