IF, it is as has been reported that the CWU have walked away due to new starter contracts, then it is very poor on their part.
They are trying to protect future employees who they have no idea about, and don't even work for RM, not to mention not paying subs to them
CURRENT loyal employees / members at the end of their tethers, both mentally and physically - THESE are the people who should be at the forefront of the unions priorities.
Anyone coming to work for RM in the future will come of their own freewill, accepting the job on the contract offered.....they are equally free to not accept and walk away from such a contract.

CWU didn’t walk away, Royal Mail did. Have you even read the updates??
The pay deal isn’t good enough, the sick pay changes are not good enough, there is no mention of Parcel Force in the deal. This deal is going to have so many holes in it it will be very clear to balanced employees why it’s been rejected once it’s been explained properly.

Is that the CWU's views or your own personal views? RM don't seem to have made any movement on the sick pay but I've not heard the CWU mention it in any of their recent updates.Burghboy wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 22:06CWU didn’t walk away, Royal Mail did. Have you even read the updates??

The CWU only seem interested in their union reps and new starters.
What have they actually been discussing for 3 weeks?

I can't see any strike being called to start prior to the local elections in May, as there are the postal votes to contend with, it's not just polling cards to worry about anymore. Then there's the Coronation long weekend...

I think if we did call a strike before the local elections chances are RM would easily be able to get an injunction

To many things not mentioned in the Royal Mail offer, commit to deliver, seasonal hours, the 60-90 minute movement of hours doesn’t add up with a 4:30 last letter. Sure the Union would fill in the gaps tonight.Burghboy wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 22:06CWU didn’t walk away, Royal Mail did. Have you even read the updates??

Re: CWU either accept deal or strike. Stop wasting our time
It's better to have a targeted strike programme in the Autumn and winter and win the 3rd ballot. No point striking in the summer imo. CWU should lay down the gauntlet in September and announce one month all out from black friday to end of December. This gives time for more tea and digestives
