People seem to be under the illusion that an employee can get justice at an Employment Tribunal?
Tribunals are stacked against the employee. It is extremely rare to have a successful claim against Royal Mail.
The only ones I know about usually involve a disability and failure making reasonable adjustments.
And as said previously, Nothing can make an employer take back an employee if they so decide.
And have no doubt any decision to dismiss an employee will first be scrutinized by HR before the decision is given due to the possibility of a tribunal claim in following the correct process.

Re: Some progress has been made.
Claims that actually reach tribunal are settled 50-50, so tribunals seems pretty fair to me. When you consider that more than 2/3 of cases don't reach tribunal but are settled by an employer out of court or via ACAS, then I'd suggest that 'going to tribunal' (even if the tribunal stage isn't reached) is actually quite a good way of getting 'justice'. Taking into account a 'negotiated settlement' as a 'win' for the employee and ignoring the <10% of cases dismissed for procedural reasons, employee win-rate is very high, nearly 10:1.

But the million dollar question is….
Are they reinstated?
In my experience NO.

You have a right to finish on time. You do not need a reason. If you think you will not be able to, then inform your lino at the earliest possible moment and ask how do you want me to proceed? The more you do it the easier it will be. Just stay chilled. It really is a much less stressful way to work. Always err on the side of caution, don't put yourself under stress by taking too much. If you get a day where everything is going your way on delivery, just slow your pace a bit on the last loop.postiewhite wrote: ↑31 Mar 2023, 20:52A lot of the damages have been done in many offices. Most of us now have duties that are far too long and more people will go on sick because of the added stress.
I don't buy into the old "You have a start and finish time" because although it's true it doesn't avoid the confrontation with the manager every single working day to tell them you will be leaving a row or two. It's also not great when the minority reply with "Well change your job then!!". A lot of us are in a position where we can't just change our job straight away due to age etc.
The Union should also insist that any executive action changes that have already happened in the last few months should be reversed.
It's a physical job and as you age the job gets more difficult. Therefore it's a decent sick pay policy. You just don't get it though, why is that?

Re: Some progress has been made.
To you it may sound childish but have you read back your own posts? You sound selfish and bitter and I call you out on that. How rude and childish of me. Your lack of empathy and self awareness is astounding. I hope you don't act this way in real life. That sick policy is exactly one of the reasons why some people can still afford to pay their bills and keep their homes when they are actually sick you idiot! You make it sound like the sick policy is just there to be abused and that makes you sound bitter. Understand now?post6675 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 22:19i would respond childishly back but you would probably go on the sick with stress for my nasty comment so i will notBoltonian-White wrote: ↑05 Apr 2023, 12:05For someone who is young you sound a bitter individual.
