Overcomplicated and unnecessary. Even way back in the early 2000s when I worked for a small-ish business (so well before the case law was established and without the huge savings of scale that RM have when it comes to managing payroll), we got holiday pay pro-rata for the hours we'd actually worked every quarter. It was easy for the employer to do, easy to understand when you saw how it worked in practice, and fair. It is beyond my fathoming how RM managed to swing the nonsense we put up with now past the union, except for a nagging suspicion I have that the union doesn't like overtime being rewarded.

Yes I remember when it was first introduced there was uproar in our office. People lost quite a bit of money by missing just one period especially the docket kings.

Especially considering they actually reduce the rate they pay you for overtime if you work a certain amount of hours. I've never worked in a job that punishes you by this way, normally a time and a half or double. As people have pointed out, doesn't seem fair that people lose all that money for holiday payment with they don't meet their requirements. I known people in my office that missed out on it by MINUTES and some had legit reasons for being off such as injury and sickness so couldn't physically do the job.DGH wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 16:52Overcomplicated and unnecessary. The CWU needs to address this for sure if on one hand the company is saying one of the biggest cost to the business is the overtime but then at the same time you are leaving stuff in frames and saying the walks aren't big enough. Hours are clearly there, they just don't want to reward their staff for going the extra mile and it's high time the CWU corrects this mistake if they haven't already in the talks.

Very true. One thing that has always baffled me is when you ask a manager to give to a couple of hours to complete your round. Their response is we can’t give you that much . Then low and behold the docket king turns up from another round and has got 4 hours for doing what you left !

Re: Some progress has been made.
Is there an actual deadline for a deal to be done?
or at least a time by which they will want to get it done.... tax year?.... ends Wednesday.

I'm beginning to think it suits both sides to delay any deal so changes get put through by executive action.
That way when a "deal" is done the changes aren't going to come under the same scrutiny, and other aspects of the deal will be painted as a win, getting the reps back for one, which should never have been made part of the negotiations but clearly it has been weaponised by RM.

How has Royal Mail weaponized reps Dismissed/Suspended being part of the dispute negotiations?
It has been the CWU who has insisted they be part of the negotiations, not Royal Mail.

Royal Mail’s plan is to de unionise the workplace, hence why the attacks on reps, they want to eliminate reps in local offices so they can steamroll over the workers, what better way than to demoralise the reps and victimise them, try to detach them, so going forward no one will touch the role.
Your take falls right in line with the company’s plan, and a lot of workers nationwide will be a lot worse off if we allow them to get away with it. Everyone should be backing the suspended workers and pushing for them to be reinstated.

Any employee, that includes reps/managers who have breached the disciplinary code have to face the consequence of their actions. Why should you have favoritism in that process?

Yes I think there will be, and they will have to take what they deserve, however having seen some of the info on some cases I believe the vast majority have been victimised.
I even believe there are now cases that have went to appeal and the independent chair has told the company that some have no case to answer, so where they have been dismissed they are saying they don’t merit any punishment whatsoever and the company are still refusing to both accept the decision’s and reinstate the victimised reps.
And yet some on here would be happy to see them just forgotten about.

Yes I agree. Royal Mail want their company to be more like GLS, which doesn't really have a union and it has been exposed that they have shocking conditions, low pay and insecure employment.Burghboy wrote: ↑03 Apr 2023, 18:24Royal Mail’s plan is to de unionise the workplace, hence why the attacks on reps, they want to eliminate reps in local offices so they can steamroll over the workers, what better way than to demoralise the reps and victimise them, try to detach them, so going forward no one will touch the role.

Re: Some progress has been made.
The simple remedy to that is for an employee who's been dismissed is to go down the Employment Tribunal route? I can't see RM risking losing 100's of cases.Burghboy wrote: ↑03 Apr 2023, 18:51Yes I think there will be, and they will have to take what they deserve, however having seen some of the info on some cases I believe the vast majority have been victimised.

Royal Mail have also spent millions of pounds on their comms channel and have a mass of staff monitoring us 24/7
A few may have even breached the disciplinary code by posting something on social media....
