Stupidest complaint you've received?

Post by Kenfandango »

As the subject really, I've had the "he left my gate open" (,I only shut them behind me if they were already shut) and "my dad wrote 8 instead of 18 and so he put it in number 8" but today I had a complaint that I'd delivered a wet parcel, from someone who had spent a good few minutes shouting "just a moment" as I stood holding the parcel in the hammering rain.

So what's yours?

I've had the caller's office guy phone me and ask if I could redeliver a parcel on my way back, said yes no problem I'm passing anyway but then he spoilt it with the classic "he says you didn't knock" at which point my answer changed to no chance.

Maybe not that stupid, but fairly common and has probably happened to every postie....

The angry customers coming out of their houses waving the grey customs charge/underpaid postage cards. It's always funny as you see their anger and they always say 'I am in - why didn't you knock!'. You instantly know they are in the wrong and haven't even read the card. It usually flips from anger to an apology.

If I had a fricking parcel I would have obviously knocked!!

similar to the classic.... 'why did you knock, we have a doorbell' and then the customer proceeds to ring their own doorbell.

What is wrong with knocking on the door, for feck sake. A lot of doorbells you can't even hear them ringing so you don't even know if they work.

I had one angry customer once open the door and go 'YOU SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME - WE HAVE A DOOR BELL!'. Over dramatic!

Yip had many over dramatic customers over the years. Another one was, why did you cross my garden? When it wasn't a garden but a monoblock patio which was used by two houses next to each other, same customer kidd you not complained that I stepped on her fresh snow 🤣

A couple of times I’ve had “ thought there was a raid on” because I knock on quite loud.
Also had a complaint from the callers office that I didn’t knock for a Special Delivery- no of course I didn’t :arrrghhh

I had a complaint that I didn't leave a p739 card for their parcel, the thing is I didn't even have a parcel it was from another courier in the end, the complaint still stands on our official walk records for some reason though

During my time:

A complaint that the system showed I had delivered a packet, but that I hadn't left a 739! I remembered delivering it, as it was a modem that just fitted in the letter box.

Three days of monsoon weather caused a complaint from one house that their mail was wet.

A complaint that I had creased the letter when posting it. This was a new build house and I pointed that the draft excluder was very stiff, I was told by the householder that that wasn't their problem!

Also doing overtime at gone 5pm one day the householder came out and said "you're late this morning".

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago, I explained it wasn’t a p739 and she had to cheek to say “ well wait there I’ll get the money for you! ”
