ye a mate of mine at the time was retiring with ill health 1 week before these phantom share were cashable....he got his retirement and over £1000 from these,,,,,the following week on or about the cashable date they announced we were going bust.....

like others have said in this post what we gave up to get these as an incentive...or same as announcing strikes...no money left

love to see thompsons other set of financial books....

Colleague shares were pretend shares from years ago, if you mean real shares no they aren't worthless.

No presumably you've got real shares.

This was a sort of employee perks scheme, introduced before privatisation where if the company did well we'd be rewarded, iirc they were supposed to be worth about 5 grand but mysteriously just before the date they could be redeemed the business made no profit, (I wouldn't be surprised if the script was we're losing 1million per day) and the value was reduced to f**k all, I think the story went something like that.

A royal mail fudge to make you feel part of it while screwing you over. Surprisingly worth nothing, but if you left, paid out....
