Bank holiday pay

Post by scorched »

Apologies if the is has been posted before but I couldn’t see it anywhere.

We were told today that we can no longer choose to be paid for our day off if it falls on a bank holiday, and this is coming from “above”. We now have to swap to another day off that week (or the following week!) whereas we always had the option before of taking the pay or gaining a day of annual leave.

Has any other office been told this? Is there a link to the existing policy? I have seen it before but not sure where. I think it was a list of three options, swap day off, take pay, or take another day of leave.

Thanks

If they give you another day off the same week you are not entitled to be paid .

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Rep has confirmed to us nothing should have changed, it's day off same week, added to annual leave or paid. If we are told any different and manager says it's just another day off as and when then to raise a grievance. Like several of us had to do for the last bank holiday.

I've never been able to have another day off that same week, week before or after...it was just a choice of having it paid or adding to annual leave. We were always too busy. Maybe though with the latest phase of top management cutting off their nose to spite their face and trying to make things as difficult as possible for us, they are now just giving us another day in the same week....no problem...I'll take that thankyou very much.
