The above is so easy to say. However if your wrong your free from any negative circumstances.
If the PE are wrong we talking thousands of our members jobs.
That is an huge gamble and one which concentrates my mind every minute of the day.
Like I said crunch time is the end of this week.

Re: Should all the union PEC be replaced?
I think the PEC is doing a good job I do believe in our team and Dave Ward but we are dealing with people who only care about their own gain and it is at your expense in how hard you work and when you work too deliver them maximum return on their £1.7 Billion investment
But seriously it is all about YOU and how YOU back YOUR union for instance we all know why the company is in the s**t why blame the union for that and we have not got a pay deal. Look at the top of royal mail for that reason did you get £142,000 bonus for failing? And another fact is this is not just about pay but how you all work and me as well just a postman up north and it is how good is the deal not how quick is the deal!

Of course I've had this feeling for a few months that Union going selling us for keeping CWU reps within the Royal Mail.fallenworld2022 wrote: ↑18 Mar 2023, 17:58ive worked in other jobs before here who had different unions and i tell u hands down this is the worst union ive ever had the misfortune of being a member of, represent themselves rather than the members who feed their pockets, had us out for 18 days of strike for nothing, claiming the company is skint like a broken record now, well why the hell did yous have us on strike if u thought the company coudln't afford a decent payrise??? i wondered whats changed in the last few months, union starting to back the company, so if the company says yous area reps can keep ur jobs but we might need to screw over the postmen what u think?????????

There was a time when the PEC stood up to the top table with policy decisions, now it is simply a rubber stamp job.

Its in the hands of the business to attract staff and recompense them the union gives us a mouthpiece but if the company don't want too listen and bombard us with s**t which some on here have fallen for is another matter!

Re: Should all the union PEC be replaced?
Redlen your wrong , the PE amend recommendations and decisions of the officers and we have done it on plenty of occasions during this dispute.
Every decision has to go via the PE and indeed the policy is normally done follow a PE meeting and a Field official meeting with Divisional reps.

If it is a Democratic organisation, how come you have members on both the NEC and PEC at the same time? It stinks of cronyism, jobs for the boys and an extension of an echo chamber. With any organisation's constitution, have a separate independent arm of that organisation to maintain impartiality and objectivity.
And France is more democratic than the UK, as the right to strike is written in their very constitution

And so is the presidential decree of mr macron who in his wisdom decided to bypass a vote and now has blown his feet off in his decree of increasing the pension age from 62 to 64. So your wrong yet again do keep it up love shooting you down like RAF vs AXIS powers spitfire vs messerschmitt 109 good luck and tally ho!redlen wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 17:26If it is a Democratic organisation, how come you have members on both the NEC and PEC at the same time? Re: Should all the union PEC be replaced?
Reflen because we are merged union. So the first 11 positions on the PE sit on the NEC as well. The TFS has the same principle smaller number to reflect the size of the membership in the BT side.
A few years ago everyone who stood for the PE or TFS automatically sat on the NEC but this has been reduced over the years alongside introducing equality members on the NEC.
All unions do this as the general running of the union alongside political, equality and general membership issues such as training , legal and medical , safety anti racism , anti trade union laws or impacts of government legislation are all discussed at the NEC.

Re: Should all the union PEC be replaced?
That still does not make it right with accountability and independence from the Executive. It has also not answered the question why in the 21 century you still have existing members of the NEC being members of the PEC as well.

Re: Should all the union PEC be replaced?
Redlen because that is the rules of the union and the employment law requires a ballot of the national executive.
Those who stand have to be elected by the membership.
Why do you think it should be changed. We discuss on the NEC a lot of issues which have an impact on members like pensions , of com campaigns etc.
Surely the ideal that you have those people who have been elected by the Postal membership sit on the NEC and the PE.

When Royal Mail folds I'd love to hear what Keir Starmers take on it all is, given he's been pretty much silent throughout all this.
The main political parties are all about themselves nowadays.

Re: Should all the union PEC be replaced?
You know as well as me, election ballots for the PEC/NEC members is a forgone conclusion on branch nominations. The wider CWU member on the shop floor has not got a clue on who stands and just follows the Branch Nomination for that PEC/NEC position. To me it is all about maintaning the current status quo. It is about time the Union Constitution was changed simply on equality and fainess. Especially Individual branches recommending puting people into existing CWU positions wthout a ballot with that position being elected unapposedMartin Walsh wrote: ↑19 Mar 2023, 18:30Redlen because that is the rules of the union and the employment law requires a ballot of the national executive.

It will be a formality to keep the PEC/NEC separate. They can still converse with each other like in Parliament with a Cross Bench Committe.
