The investigation has to complete by the end of the year and then it will be a while to decide what action will be taken against them, so I can’t see it affecting these pay talksShadedpostie wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 10:16The only outcome I see happening is they fine Royal Mail again, then the board will turn around to union and say we can't afford a high pay rise so here's your s**t one instead. Completely backed the union into a corner on this one with this investigation, probably the opposite of what they wanted. All ST and co got really was a right telling off and that's it. They really don't give a s**t about that though.Surfpostie wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 08:56A massive thanks to Darren Jones for taking on all the e-mails he has received from posties.. Doom and gloom for the deliveries again, if I worked in a mail centre I'd be more concerned about how the super hubs are going to affect my job when they running at full pelt rather than trying to speculate on a 3 day USO that won't happen . Have you seen all the MC that are losing loads of work when the new one due to open goes live? MC closures Wil be coming no matter how much you try to bury your head in the sand. We've already lost our local distribution to mail centres that are trying to grab any work they canSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 12:21Can't see them closing MCs as the letters will still need processing, you physically can't sequence three days worth of letters on a CSS in one go and most of the space in a MC is used for processing Tracked and packets anyway. Think it'd affect DOs more as for "walkers" (those who can't drive) they'll end up doing really long days or end up part time. The other way they might do it is rotate which walks letters go out on which daysnorm wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 11:38The gov fought tooth and nail to offload RM to the private market in the first place, can't see them wanting to take it back when it's losing so much money now.norris9 wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 07:13https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-64972913
If Royal Mail are genuinely struggling then either...
-The government needs to take it back into public ownership.
-A 5 day letter service should happen, but ofcom needs to be able to strictly regulate that Royal Mail are sticking to a 5 day USO, because this company will rub their hands at a 5 day service and then provide a 3 or 4 day service by understaffing us further.
More likely they'll back down on objections to changing the USO. Which was likely the company strategy all along. With a 3 day a week USO, fewer mail centres, lower paid staff, owner drivers, RM would make a fortune.

If MCs are going to close because of the super-hubs, then why is RM installing PSMs in MCs? There's no point in having PSMs in both the super-hubs and MCs. I'm thinking that they're possibly looking towards MCs walk sorting packets. There's no way that the PSMs in the hubs have enough selections to have 1 output for every DO, let alone one for every walk.citypostie wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 12:33Doom and gloom for the deliveries again, if I worked in a mail centre I'd be more concerned about how the super hubs are going to affect my job when they running at full pelt rather than trying to speculate on a 3 day USO that won't happen . The cross-docking of Tracked from the hubs didn't last too long, neither did the scan the york barcode for all the items, we now have to scan the individual items and the local parcel hubs idea has also been abandoned.

The parcel hubs were implemented but have now been abandoned. I suspect the main issue was staffing with the hubs needing all their staff on normal walkscitypostie wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 18:19The parcel hub idea hasn't been abandoned, just not implemented yetSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 13:17If MCs are going to close because of the super-hubs, then why is RM installing PSMs in MCs? They were not implemented. We were not named as one of the hub offices but have never lost our large parcels. We are having DPR’s put in now as part of our revision but the DOM is warning people he can’t guarantee how long those duties will exist.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 19:24The parcel hubs were implemented but have now been abandoned. Re: Darren Jones MP - select committee - - what's happening?
Our DPR routes are a shambles due to under staffing, RM MUST invest in machinery that can walk sort packets (DPD does apparently) Could the letters side be located away from the MC's to be run separately ? Question IF RM went bust, would the shareholders then disappear ? Or would they have to be paid off ?

It would go in to liquidation and an administrator would be appointed the share of liquidity would be the loaners ie banks and investors then shareholders and then staff for redundancy or pension payments or other like rental ie property or vehicles. Thing to note is if it did go bust the directors the CEO the Chairman and all those in running the company will/could be barred from holding any position in running any business for 15 years!ANDREW CROCOMBE wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 21:07Our DPR routes are a shambles due to under staffing, RM MUST invest in machinery that can walk sort packets (DPD does apparently) Could the letters side be located away from the MC's to be run separately ? Lets be honest here the directors of the company are in deep s**t if the whole RM collapses as a UK registered company IDS https://www.google.com/search?q=ids+sha ... e&ie=UTF-8
Is in fact not international nor does it provide a service of distribution of goods in wealth it does do that so these people with the hands on the tiller are personally responsible for all that is happening and it is their futures they are gambling on!

Re: Darren Jones MP - select committee - - what's happening?
The tech to walk sort packets has existed for a few years now, it's probably now fast enough to be usable. Don't know if sorting down to loop level is possible but it wouldn't surprise me if walk sequencing of packets were to be possible now with modern tech. RM certainly need to look into machines which can handle flats, letters and with limits set (thickness, size, etc given to the senders) D2D as wellANDREW CROCOMBE wrote: ↑17 Mar 2023, 21:07Our DPR routes are a shambles due to under staffing, RM MUST invest in machinery that can walk sort packets (DPD does apparently) Could the letters side be located away from the MC's to be run separately ? Well they know the laws and lax business practice is part and parcel of the government ie energy and transport and NHS thing is Royal Mail is hardly a shining example of how to run a business yet let provided a service at at best is substandard and at worse third world!korky wrote: ↑18 Mar 2023, 18:07would it bother them though? they are all probably wealthy enough, whilst us? total scum who run this once great servicek979aaa wrote: ↑18 Mar 2023, 00:31It would go in to liquidation and an administrator would be appointed the share of liquidity would be the loaners ie banks and investors then shareholders and then staff for redundancy or pension payments or other like rental ie property or vehicles. 2.27. As an ultimate protection for the universal service, the Bill includes provision for special arrangements should a universal service provider
be at risk of entering insolvency proceedings. In such circumstances, the Government, or Ofcom with the consent of the Government, could apply to
the court for a postal administration order. If granted the key objective of the administrator would be to ensure that the universal service is maintained.
We do not expect ever to have to use these provisions but they provide an additional safeguard for the universal service, recognising its social and economic importance in the UK. This approach mirrors that taken in the energy and water sectors"
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
