THESE R THE SAME BOYS COMING IN EARLY I BET AND NOT DOING THE JOB RIGHT AND NOT TAKING BREAKS..THATS WHY THEY ARE BACK EARLY
Firstly there is no need to shout.
Secondly you are wrong. In some cases people are finishing early because there is insufficient indoor and outdoor work to fill their contracted hours.

Accusing everyone who finishes early of not doing the job properly is as stupid as accusing everyone who can't complete of being slow or a piss taker.
If that's the true case, well then it sounds like you are a rare office which is in need of a revision and job cuts.

Unfortunately people in our office are still coming in early but then scanning in 20 minutes after they’ve been in! They then don’t take breaks but finish 40 minutes early these guys are now complaining about being given extra lapsing you couldn’t make it up. Well done you fools
:arrrghhh :d'oh! Then they'll probably go on strike because they're not happy with a deal. Sometimes people are too stupid to help. They're a lost cause.

I thought all offices were having revisions and facing job cuts?
Why is my office any different?

Because many offices dont NEED the revision and job cuts as the walks are already too long and mail is failing but are getting them anyway

He is saying your office must be rare case of an office with walks that are too short, with too many bodies and not enough work to do

Exact same thing is happening over here. Completely pissing me off because they know they shouldn't be doing it when they scan in to make it look like they've come in on their time. Yet majority of the bloody walk has been throw in and on their parcels the moment you walk through the door.
Ridiculous I just don’t get it, maybe they are scared they are too slow at prep or worrying about d2d items, our manager has said no early starts and scan in on time but people just ignoring it but as far as he is concerned people start on time so the extra lapsing is now going on our frame as all he looks at is finishing time, these guy will
Never learn until it’s too late I just scratch my head at theses idiots and continue to do the job properly and cut off end off.
It's worse when these idiots are joking about finishing early or saying out loud, "oh I don't want to come back too early", whilst managers are walking around in earshot. They are that self absorbed they don't even realise it'. 🤦 And then you had one person saying, "well I have to because my round is too big" as justification for coming in for f**k all. My dude, you are going to make it even larger if you keep this up 🤡 That's why I feel sorry for the reps of the union , because they are the first people they bitch to as to why they have to do extra lapsing or why their round has got bigger.

You wouldn't need the revision if your WIPWH were high enough.

I thought the revisions were necessary to align hours to work in the face of falling volumes?
Is my office the only one facing falling volumes? Can anyone post their traffic figures for this period compared with 12 months ago and show how their traffic is holding up?
Another point of the revisions is to improve efficiency.

"The walks are too long" doesn't really make any sense. If you have a 4 hour walk but 4h 30 to complete it then the walk isn't too big.
If you have a 4h walk but only 3h 30 to complete it the duty is unachievable but that only highlights a problem with the indoor performance.
There could be a lot of different problems and they usually start and finish with your COM because as Hooper highlighted many moons ago they are not up to delivering change on the scale needed.

If you were a manager and you had 1000 hours of work to cover, would you want a budget of 1000 hours or 1500?

Here is a football analogy.
We are being asked to play 5-a-side. Too many people (managers and staff) think they can still play 4-4-2.

You fail to mention having a walk that takes over 5 hours to complete going full pelt and only having 4 and a half hours to do it

You do realise that part timers who dont do indoor work apart from tie up and load, deliver walks too right?

Our revision works about 2 or 3 days put of 5. That is an average -;some probably complete almost everyday and other struggle almost everyday. However, walks have been taken out and every walk has had more added to them - some have had work taken out (from last revision) and then more added closer to their own walk.

Travel time is less (no lapsing and going here and there) and volumes are definitely down (Mondays are a doddle and Fridays seems to have less). Tuesdays are now almost impossible, so is Saturdays. Wednesday and Thursday are usually busier but with more time to deliver (at least one of them fails).

So, we are doing more - more efficient and more alignment to contract hours and spare staff (sometimes) mop up cut offs or as per before (don't tell Darren Jones), mail is rolled over and parcels defo done - one way or the other.

Royal Mail is saving money - that is their plan; so Revision is working for them. The saving grace is to work your time and don't get bullied!

If the walk requires 5 hours and you have 4.5hours, then it cannot be done. Are they getting done?

Managers can try to pressure but if it is not possible then it is not; however, as per my post above, it might be possible on some days (even your office will have low volumes sometimes)...

They will just have to cut off or keep reminding that it cannot be done - the aggro is wearing but you need to fight your corner.

Part timers coming in at 9am should be able to leave around 10am; leaving them about 4:15 minutes or so on the longer days... So, almost impossible! However, our manager has now resorted to making sure the work of the part timer is almost ready before they walk in - scanning to core route for them and redirections done. So all they needed to do is bag up - van usually obtained by full timer.

Those managers are really working for their Revision bonus. Bullying and harassing too...

It's getting to the point where it's going to be humanly impossible for people to walk that much in that amount of time though. Yeah we might be doing less indoor work but comparing doing that to doing work outdoors and what it does to the body is night and day. Especially considering they are basically cramming in extra walks into frames with these revisions. We already do triple-quadruple the amount of recommended walking a day in this job. People are going to go to the point of exhaustion and sustain more injuries on delivers with amount of bending down and walking. It's something the company does not realise and if union agrees with it, they also don't realised. It's a huge difference from working at a retail job or doing just parcel job. Hell, you still read articles on Amazon drivers falling asleep behind the wheel. Imagine what it's going to be like for us lot?

I don't disagree with any of that.
But the reality is a shorter delivery span means fewer full time jobs.
At that point everyone is going to have to admit delivery is a primarily part time occupation.

They could always take their time and do the job properly..don't read address while you walk, try neighbours, use trolley where you can and don't run or walk at breakneck speed.
What if they do all that and still finish early?
On some streets, on some days I have a 20% call rate.
How exactly do I string the duty out until my finish time?
Why would I even bother?
Innit. I do my round in a reasonable time and still finish early every time. I'm buggered if I'm gonna string it out for hours just because.

Whatever. I'm leaving at the end of the week anyway.
