Hung out to dry
The only thing I'm gathering from anything said is, we have been hung out to dry. We've lost loads of money, stress and anxiety over the job, management and changes are being forced through and this is what we get. Every decision at local level union reps has been shambolic, overseen by said reps who worked on the rounds and threw mail off and stood talking to managers last time we had 2 to a van shoved on us(we have a small office and there was our union rep, 5 managers, an area manager and a planner- on top of our office- we were made to carry bags rather than the agreed trolleys or face the sack - the union did nothing then but tell us there were other jobs about in tescos and now we have been blamed, like every time for our own situations) The union are only good at top level - I don't trust them now and I didn't during the original revision. The original revision(2012 I believe)made 2 to a van put extra on our rounds, followed by some extra again later with the promise from 'our union rep' that no more collapsing be done ever again if we did it- how long that last was maybe 6 months. The management(with that union man stood with them)had us carry bags on our backs rather than on a trolley or face disciplinary action for going too slow. He later victim blamed us for the situation we were in for not using the trolleys which is the most disgusting attack we have had because they are supposed to represent us. The same representative was phoning another union representative (on the original review) said the party is over - he didn't know but I over heard the conversation. I am constantly disenchanted by the union.

Re: Hung out to dry
Couldn’t have put it better myself. I’ll keep saying it but Dave Ward and this whole union leadership need removed and replaced immediately. I hope we as a collective have the guts to reject out of hand the bonfire of a deal they will present us in 10 days time. We cannot as in the past vote through their incompetence just because we get a bit of back pay of £500. Reject it then reject them.danh wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 16:32The only thing I'm gathering from anything said is, we have been hung out to dry. I agree. They’ve made no progress in nearly a year. Time for change at the top and in the meantime reject the forthcoming shambolic deal.toonshola wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 17:00Couldn’t have put it better myself. Re: Hung out to dry
As if they could do anything about it. You really think they could have come to an agreement earlier that would have been accepted by the workers? - No chance! Royal Mail have been ploughing through to make the changes THEY and THEY only want.
The original poster was moaning about his own rep and actually stated that he believes the people at the top of the union are the only decent ones.
My own rep at our office doesn't help enough. He's not terrible, but he ain't much use a lot of the time or is too slow to fix things that are blatantly wrong.

There's a feeling we're being sold short after all the sacrifices we made and the backing we've constantly shown the CWU.
Talks about talks about talks, all the while we're running out of patience and options.

I said 6 months ago that no agreement was possible because Royal Mail had changed the landscape of the business.
We've wasted time for nothing.

Re: Hung out to dry
The union have been backed into a corner and to save face, it'll be " this is the best deal we could of got given the circumstances". Pay deal no better than what was on the table and backing down on alot of the changes lol
As long as they have got a voice it doesn't matter about the workload etc etc. Give it a few weeks after the revisions and another doner will be put on.
The deal will be based on how RM are doing now which is basically piss poor so i wouldn't be holding my breath lol. Same as always we'll go from "we are going to win this dispute make no mistake" to offering us scraps on the table! Listen to the talk of the union at the start of the dispute to what it is now, I fear we'll be giving up alot.

Thompson says to Ward 'this is the balance sheet, we are up s**t creek' Ward, cowering, says ' we'll do anything to save the company' Last 10 yrs at least £300 million profit every year - where the f☆☆k has it gone ? Look Dave the DATA doesnt lie, your members are lazy, we must work them into physical oblivion.

Maybe we should all put a block on paying our subs for 2 months, and see if that gets a response from OUR onion (yes, too many layers, and they make you cry!).

Re: Hung out to dry
S. Thompson is revelling in the s**t. The Union don't say the party line S Thompson said , which is the strikes cost 2/3rds of our loses in 9 months- he said it equates to nearly £300 million. 9 months of £1million a day of loses is roughly £270million(roughly near £300 million), then minus 2 thirds due to strikes = £90 million after the loses. £90 million (without strikes strikes isn't a million pound a day) I'm talking a rough areas but that would equate to £120 million in my eyes. Someone do the proper maths but tell me I'm wrong

Re: Hung out to dry
This joint statement is a delaying tactic to allow RM to bully through more EA changes. Come the 12th RM will say no more money for pay rises, no unpicking of round changes so CWU go away and do your worst. Then we'll see how many people decide to go - or not - on strike.

Sad thing is, the 95.9% yes vote is largely a mixture of blind hope and trust.timbo1234 wrote: ↑03 Mar 2023, 20:34This joint statement is a delaying tactic to allow RM to bully through more EA changes. We voted to support the CWU because we've sacrificed a lot over a hell of a long time.
I understand that it's a long drawn out process, but the longer the business spun this out, the easier it was for them to demonstrate their dwindling finances which supports their demand for major change.
Royal Mail have controlled this dispute from day one and the time we have wasted has pounded our resolve.

Re: Hung out to dry
Well is that it then people, funny people forget the massive amounts of giveaway to shareholders last year, the great settlement to our managers last year, and there bonuses , the top hierarchy paying themselves substantial bonuses, and any manager who left with the culling of them I think got 2 years or thereabouts salary pay off. FUNNY we got nothing , apart from as you say, 2% forced pay rise, massive unachievable revisions, threats of compulsory redundancies, also wanting to remove many conditions to our working ways. Sorry disagree with a lot of you , I'm for the long road, unless they give us the terms we need to survive to manage a living in this country, THEY have caused the damage, whether by misinformation or greed or stupidity. HELL mend them, because we should be in a better position than we are at the moment.

Re: Hung out to dry
While it is right to criticise the reckless use of profits from years passed, it doesn’t help in the here and now. Unless you build a Time Machine and go back and reverse those decisions, the fact is, we are leaking cash. Even the union realise that now, as anyone who works in delivery should already appreciate. Mail is sill ridiculously quiet right now and has been all year. Compromise is inevitable and if you think we are going to get some kind of miracle back-dated pay rise, with no change to current working conditions, you are deluded.
