I suppose,like eveything else in life it depends on your personal circumstances. If you are 30yrs old with 4yrs service you’re not going to lose much sleep about quitting RM,the older you get & the more years you chalk up,the waters grow somewhat more murky…

Last day Saturday after 21 years I have had enough of the nepotism, corruption and general underhanded management, got new job 10k more and no weekend working

There has always been nepotism and underhanded management in RM for as long as I can remember!

Ever since privatisation our jobs have gone south very quickly. I saw one of our old managers from years back the other week and he was glad to leave the company when he did. There's that much carp being put on them that they get it both ways - from senior managers and from us.

That's only going to get worse with these changes being forced into us. Credit to you for leaving when things are obviously going tits up

It was. I had to gen up on company policy & loads of other stuff too,was dreading being asked questions that I couldn’t answer! Must admit I was quite proud of myself to be offered both jobs!

As I said earlier,I cannot stress enough how highly other companies value a long serving RM employee. My advice would be don’t sell yourselves short (seen a lot of that on this thread) - our job it hard & requires a wide & varied skill set. Play on this & exploit it when applying for any role!

I've been out of RM for 4 weeks now and I can confirm the grass is definitely greener.

Starting an hour later in the mornings and having all my weekends off has been liberating. I'm not half as tired after an 8 hour days work. Still walking the same distance every day, but at a much easier pace and without a heavy bag helps.

Home most days around 4pm, and with no toxic workplace and all the cr@p that comes with it, I'm feeling mentally and physically better than I have in years.

Last day for me on Saturday too, after just 5 and a half years. Start a Mon to Friday job the following week, just slightly less money, but about the same holiday entitlement that doesn't need to be booked 18 months in advance and a week off over Christmas

It's like a monkey has been pulled off my back tbh. The daily s**t we are having to endure now is just beyond a joke and I didn't want to leave it any longer and become part of the furniture and eventually unable to even comprehend doing anything else like many of my colleagues.

In my mind, I've already left. I just haven't made it official yet. I was holding out for redundancy, but even that doesn't seem worth the trouble any more. Ten years working in a mail centre, and for most of the time it was the easiest most hassle free job I've ever had, turn up, take the money, no stress and no sleepless nights. But it's been obvious for a while those days were never going to last and I would rather start over again somewhere else, than drag out the misery.

Would love a decent VR but am in limbo, 30 years service and almost 61. If RM keep this up they'll reach the figures they wanted - when staff numbers reduce further. Give us something - we don't feel so knackered AND easier saturdays please.Regardless of circumstances I don't blame anyone for leaving, and I wouldn't recommend this job to anyone. Personally I think the job is worthless. It used to be very important. Letters meant something 30 years ago. Now its delivering tat to the same 5 percent customers every day. I got no pride in the job. Its soul destroying. I'd rather turn my hand at something useful if I can. Why risk your long term health for another pair of shoes for some bored housewife? Stressing out to get the shoes delivered on time only to collect them the next day because she didn't like them.

Bunker down, it's a seige mentality, how long can we hold off the assault will depend on us.
How long before we abandon our weapons and fck off?
Leave the battlefield for good, our skills are not respected and they would rather use a mercenary for a day, and probably show them more loyalty than us.
King and country, being proud of the crown on the stamp we are delivering, thinking it means something, maybe we're lucky we lasted this long.

35 more working days and I’m out for 6 months unpaid leave. With the mission of sorting my stuff out and NOT returning on 6/11/23. Had enough after 14 years service.
