Jacking it in?

It's so bad that a guy in ours 2nd in seniority started at 16 a cadet now at 54 handed notice in gone in 2 weeks.These are the ones who you thought would be there to the end,I'm holding for a payout or redundancy here's hoping.

The forced taking of pension at 60 has made up my mind. The job is toxic for physical and mental health. I'm going. A laid back couldnt care less attitude is best for this job. Easier said than done.

Been for two interviews in the last few weeks,my first in 20yrs,was offered one the roles almost immediately & the other a few days later but turned both down.

Will stay put for the time being & see what happens - must admit leaving without a pay off after such a long service does irk me a bit,especially as I am now looking at going down the retraining route

For anyone thinking of jumping ship with a long or medium service I will say that any potential employers will look at your time with the company extremely favourably. Working on the post is still considered a very prestigious job by many. All of the people interviewing me were shocked that I was even considering leaving. Of course they don’t know all the shite that ST & his cronies are doing to our heads…

What I was saying is, you've been offered TWO jobs after going to the trouble of applying and interview AND you then turn them down! They must have been terrible jobs!!!

No offence but if that were me, I'd be taking one of them jobs having gone to the trouble of applying that's all.

Personally I think the job is worthless. It used to be very important. Letters meant something 30 years ago. Now its delivering tat to the same 5 percent customers every day. I got no pride in the job. Its soul destroying. I'd rather turn my hand at something useful if I can. Why risk your long term health for another pair of shoes for some bored housewife? Stressing out to get the shoes delivered on time only to collect them the next day because she didn't like them.

Totally agree. Yet for me it's more reason to stick it out. Just a few years to go doing something I have no investment it whatsoever, focusing on real life instead. Easy said than done I know, but I suggest keeping the (let's face it) laughable job at arm's length. Just need to practice what I preach now...

thompson knew this would happen and what he wants.people jacking because the job is so bad.how can this be allowed to happen to long serving posties who have given so much to making rm a great company and all the effort we have given during tough times such as the pandemic.its truly shocking.the strikes so far clearly haven’t worked and its no point having a strike day here and there

Both jobs where warehouse based & had good points & bad points. Unbelievably the first involved the banking of hours my face must have looked a picture when he dropped that line!

End of the day I’m FT duty holder who lives 5-mins from my local DO. I was only ever going to jump if I was 100% certain. I’ve not lost anything just gained some positive feedback from being in a situation I hadn’t found myself in for many a year.

I have other potential irons in the fire if things don’t get sorted,though I am now thinking that at my time of life jumping into another manual role perhaps isn’t for me…

A screw in ours said, If they knew about how many were handing in their notice they wouldn't have needed to offer VR!
