Scanning to route

You can't in our DO as all the PDA's are locked away until the sorting is completed!! I usually scan them as I put them in order into the van, I still can't see what RM gains by individual OPG's scanning their own parcels when we still give a 4(?) hours window for them to be delivered and I doubt many customers take any notice of the window in any event.

The only reason I can see at the moment is it saves one or two people being paid to scan every tracked for the office in ready for delivery in the morning. Instead, absorbing that into the duty holders day. If it's still giving a 4hr delivery slot there's no change there.

Had one myself the other day, the notification gave a 3hr window with a caveat that the time window is not guaranteed.

My understanding is the project team want to get it to within a 30 minute window but that the initial guesstimation for delivery would be wider.

No, the PDA puts them in the order of your delivery points. You can't force them in an order you want and it doesn't really matter
anyway. As you scan each one it gets ticked off.

No chance of that. You would have to input your break time as well as first delivery point. It's totally unworkable on a letter plus pkts delivery. Maybe okay for just pkts if you Ron them and stick to route.

Guessing now if that's what it says on the pda then it's just a techo way of the pda saying " these are your delivery points" . Either that or I'm just being thick or still missing something here.

It shows your delivery points according to your duty, they go in the same order as your fitting, if there's a parcel for an address it shows up but only if the qr code contained the address info, it it didn't or you only scanned the 2d then they just show up at the end.

As this now has the PDA's listing Dog Hazards(even though its years out of date), I wonder if eventually Royal Mail will use this against postie's going sick from dog attacks? "Your PDA told you the address had a dog, your fault for going in/not being careful"?

Scan to route is a nonsense when you're delivering parcels, letters and the order of delivery changes daily due to specials.

They have tried to use it to send someone out blind on a rural in our office, don’t worry mate u don’t need training anymore now we have this on the pda , all the delivery points are listed so if u get lost just click navigate on that address on your pda
