I thought today was the deadline from the union for rm to stop ea .
As we haven't heard anything and it's Monday evening it doesn't look like an agreement has been reached .
Has anyone heard anything.

I think the CWU have snookered themselves now. The strikes before Black Friday and Christmas didn’t slow ST down one bit.
The latest claim of ‘winning the ballot will win the dispute’ (or whatever it was) is clearly not true either. Populism at its finest.

Now I think what’s happened is this new negotiator and the TUC have got involved and confirmed there is little wiggle room for pay talks. There simply isn’t the money available. Last years profits are irrelevant in this years talks. So the CWU, after months and months of telling its members that 7% is an outrage, will now have to probably sell it as the best deal available and I doubt the members will fall for it.

I’m hoping the talks have somehow stretched the pay increase to 9%, maybe even slightly more, but I doubt it. So the EA will carry on. The pay talks will stay stalled and the CWU will either back down or call more strikes which will mean RM can claim they have even less money to give us.

ST really hasn’t flinched much. Not to Black Friday or Christmas or even the parliamentary humiliations.

So the CWU are probably stuck between a rock and a hard place and are trying to manoeuvre a way out of it whilst still keeping face.

If he doesn’t realise continuing head-on confrontation with the CWU may win the dispute but smash the business, surely major shareholders and Keith Williams do?
Thompson’s position is untenable. If the CWU are now negotiating with the board, he is irrelevant, surely?

Booted out or just chosen not to attend whilst he rolls out ever more EA etc? I can't see having non exec board members is a step forward!

Cwu have just released a short statement on Facebook. Basically negotiations are continuing tomorrow- the pec are meeting Tom afternoon - and they will give another update by weds at the latest- make of that what you will.

An update would be welcome, but I would prefer they weighed all their options up before rushing into anything.
Then call an all out strike.
