The view of the future from RM head office
RM should just pay people exactly for the hours they work at an agreed level of productivity. if they dont work, they dont get paid, if they go home early, they dont get paid for those hours, if they work below an agreed level of productivity, pay is deducted. if they call in sick, statutory minimum applies. Equally if they exceed productivity or work longer hours then they should be paid overtime. Normal businesses have operated like this for decades.

So is that an agreed productivity level jointly set with the CWU or is it the unrealistic one these revisions are based on. We are back to Victorian times at RM.

Re: The view of the future from RM head office
Going home early I agree with. Why should someone be sat at home getting paid because they have a smaller round for example when colleagues are still working hard to get the job done. But who decides what the productivity level is? Just because a runner who cuts corners and comes in early can get the route done in 3 hrs but someone who does the job properly including the d2ds takes 4hrs should they be deducted an hours pay because they took longer?
I'm sure that mp would love to see that post!!

What about all the unpaid work people do we used to call it good will but that has gone yet people still come in early for nothing don’t take there breaks use the trolleys do van checks door stepping cutting corners people go on and on about it on here but unfortunately we are the ones to blame for getting like this they’ve given us enough rope to hand ourselves and we pretty much have these revisions are done with little knowledge other than pda actuals and a computer program that to be fair isn’t very good but it doesn’t know if u come in early didn’t do any IPs because they forward loaded the sorting didn’t take your breaks do your van checks it just says X has been finishing 45 minutes early almost everyday so obviously he can do more this is why we need to do the job properly but I think that horse has already bolted

Re: The view of the future from RM head office
I would rather they focussed on the people who make their D2Ds disappear. RM makes £millions out of D2Ds but never bother to chase the people throwing them directly into a skip.
They’re easy to spot because you never see them putting any together or even opening a box and yet as if by magic they are gone.
Are RM happy to keep paying these ppl a supplement for recycling?
This matters also because these people are faster because they are not doing their job. They’re not delivering D2Ds and are consequently out of the door faster.
Do managers just not see what is happening right in front of them? Why aren’t they bothered?

Does this statement count for managers too because they would end up owing money to Royal Mail

Why would you take any notice of what a manager says, if they start paying them for what they do they will be crying in their latte every morning. But thats not the way it works, hammer us for everything they can to get the wages bill down, then hammer the dom/com whatever you call them now later on and absolutely cream it in, at least that seems to be what their thinking is. They aint the brightest bunch and are very predictable in the attacks on us and hopefully we will hammer it into them shortly with some strike days called and lets see how big their clangers are. They still keep coming no matter how many promises they make to stop until talks are over so we may as well just call them out.

To anyone who's ever worked in an office, the idea that every hour is used productively is laughable. Or that there's no weekly sneaking off early to home or to the pub or to pick up the kids.

There would be a hell of a lot of unpaid managers and members of the board of royal mail we might even get in the black again!geordieboy123 wrote: ↑27 Feb 2023, 13:09RM should just pay people exactly for the hours they work at an agreed level of productivity. if they dont work, they dont get paid, if they go home early, they dont get paid for those hours, if they work below an agreed level of productivity, pay is deducted. if they call in sick, statutory minimum applies. They should be made to wear a PDA. See how often it gives them a poke for being inactive.k979aaa wrote: ↑27 Feb 2023, 15:58There would be a hell of a lot of unpaid managers and members of the board of royal mail we might even get in the black again!geordieboy123 wrote: ↑27 Feb 2023, 13:09RM should just pay people exactly for the hours they work at an agreed level of productivity. if they dont work, they dont get paid, if they go home early, they dont get paid for those hours, if they work below an agreed level of productivity, pay is deducted. if they call in sick, statutory minimum applies. Managers are the least productive members of a delivery unit.
For any one of them to point a finger at any one of us, never mind the reason, sums this crappy company up.

Re: The view of the future from RM head office
Managers should be paid far less - they do next to nothing.
Postie - walks 12 miles a day, up steps, slopes, carrying a heavy bag.
Manager - tells people 'you are lapsing job 224', sits down for the rest of the day.

Huh? Surely the one who took 3 hours gets deducted an hour? (Not my view but what youve said doesnt make sense to me)Ali831 wrote: ↑27 Feb 2023, 13:45Going home early I agree with.
