Re: Customer collections 5 items?
Deployment 'We kinda tested it but we did not test it properly' Manager
We have received feedback from Delivery Colleagues regarding parcel collections from addresses where multiple orders had been placed for the same day. The good news is that from the end of February orders will be grouped by collection address, meaning that items will be able to be scanned in any order and unlike before, collection statuses will be applied to all items for the address (these can be amended individually after if required). The brief below will be shared over the next couple of weeks, before PDAs are updated during the February PDA release.
OPG
Why was this rushed out and why was it not looked at properly
Deployment 'I blame the w*****s who tested it plus we have no real idea what we are doing as we are in a nice warm/cool office' Manager
The Parcel Collect product went live late 2020 and was thoroughly tested before launch. I can hear your frustration, but this isn’t an issue as you have described. This issue has arisen because, as the product has become more popular, particularly with marketplace sellers, customers have chosen to place multiple collection orders for the same day. As soon as we became aware of the operational impact of the customer behaviour during peak 2021, we worked with our tech colleagues to develop this solution to resolve the issue

Re: Customer collections 5 items?
Last week we had 7 collections, 2 had already been collected
2 no one answered
1 was expecting a label 🏷 1 was not ready & packaged it up while I waited on the doorstep for a good 10 to 15 minutes, 1 would not scan because the label they had printed was far to faint, surly these doorstep must be costing RM more than they are worth?

Depends. Did you have to claim O/T for that 10-15 mins - then possibly yes.twoloops wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 11:45Last week we had 7 collections, 2 had already been collected2 no one answered

If you're going to/past these premises anyway a failed collection (apart from the wrapping one) shouldn't take
more than a couple of minutes.
I think RM are mainly doing it to gain the revenue that would go to PO counters if people went to
the PO counter and paid for the postage there. Don't know how much commission PO make
from RM on postage for a parcel but whatever it is, if we're collecting them PO counters
are not getting it, it's all revenue for RM.

Re: Customer collections 5 items?
RM are losing revenue on domestic collections because the customer is choosing their own postage value which results in us collecting a 5kg parcel which is meant to be, according to the label, a 0.5kg packet.yellowbelly wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 15:39Depends. This will start to matter more and more because if you turn up to collect 20 small 0.5kg packets, but arrive to a mound of parcels weighing a combined 100kg, it won’t be funny. Especially if you’re in one of the small vans.
Simon won’t be calculating this loss of course but it is a loss.

Send them off to revenue protection to be surcharged.Barnacle wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 16:15RM are losing revenue on domestic collections because the customer is choosing their own postage value which results in us collecting a 5kg parcel which is meant to be, according to the label, a 0.5kg packet.

Refuse it. I forget the exact option, but it's something akin to "Unable to collect: Item not as described".Barnacle wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 16:15RM are losing revenue on domestic collections because the customer is choosing their own postage value which results in us collecting a 5kg parcel which is meant to be, according to the label, a 0.5kg packet.yellowbelly wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 15:39Depends. Why would you collect a 5kg packet that said 0.5kg?Barnacle wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 16:15RM are losing revenue on domestic collections because the customer is choosing their own postage value which results in us collecting a 5kg parcel which is meant to be, according to the label, a 0.5kg packet.yellowbelly wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 15:39Depends. It’s amazing, that in one company, there can be so many different ways of doing the same job.
As many have said, and we all know, the management structure in RM is a joke.

Re: Customer collections 5 items?
It does seem that the Public have got used to us delivering all the crap items they can't be arsed to drive into town for. My Favorite's "Slabs" of Pet Food Tins that weigh a ton
The next Logical step is for us to collect the bloody parcels they can't be arsed to take to the Post Office!
I've got one customer who I deliver to daily with Tracked Items, at the same time Collecting stuff she's sending, and fighting for space with the Bloody Asda Delivery guy ...... and other Couriers. I'd be amazed if she actually leaves the house for anything!

Anything over 20kg (excluding tracked 48 which is 30kg )SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑09 Jan 2022, 19:41I think it'll be down to how much a 30Kg parcel is for PF compared with other couriers. If it's really expensive then I think RM would rather it stay with RM rather than risk losing traffic to other couriersJefferson Starfish wrote: ↑09 Jan 2022, 13:40I would hope that customers wanting a collection will automatically get one from the relevant carrier, i.e RM or PF, when they input the weight of their parcel.![]()
Will have to be sent PF or courier
Any items received over 20kg revenue protection inform the sender that they have to either collect the parcel from the mail centre or arrange for a courier to collect

Re: Customer collections 5 items?
You can refuse to pick up oversize items, the maximum size allowed needs to be able to fit in a York container and be under 20kg.
A mattress would clearly not as would a fully assembled single bed

Re: Customer collections 5 items?
A small parcel is maximum 45x35x16cm so you would been able to refuse it as not as described or whatever the official line is on the PDA.
