Time to think outside the Box.
If this industrial action has been orchestrated to keep the Share price down to let Kretinsky buy us up on the cheap then isn't it about time the membership use their tools against them.
The membership could use our SIP's to buy up Shares on the cheap and force the price up thus thwarting any bid from Kretinsky.
Kretinsky currently owns 23.46% and we own 9.9%.
I reckon we could collectively easily buy up a couple of million shares per month to force the share price up.
If anyone is familiar with the Redditors war against hedge funds shorting Gamestop and AMC will know that they managed to inflict heavy losses on the hedge funds and even took a couple of them out.

Sounds good on the face of it.
Striking cannot be the only way we take on this crowd from now on, that's for sure.
They've got past Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas, without even flinching.

The union should encourage it.
Would it be hard to set up automatically to have £20 a week taken from my wages to buy shares?

Re: Time to think outside the Box.
They wouldn't be able to encourage it for that reason but I'm sure there is no law against them saying that members buying up shares may raise the Share price and fend off Kretinsky's unwanted advances.pieoftheday wrote: ↑19 Feb 2023, 14:32I dont think the CWU could encourage it, could be seen as financial advice
I doubt that would be construed as financial advice.

Re: Time to think outside the Box.
Any inkling the Staff are up to something I can bet my last pound there would be takeover or the markets and Government step in.
We need millions now perhaps Dave Ward can get Larry Fink on the phone.
After all haven’t Blackrock just given Ukraine 13 Billion.
The people behind GameStop are now on the FBI most wanted.
Remember you now carnt think out of the box.
Royal Mail is rotten to the core and perhaps needs to fail.
Then the cancer which is GLS can be gotten rid of.
Huge short term pain initially but root and branch reform is urgently needed.
Not ST vision.

Re: Time to think outside the Box.
There's nothing to stop thousands of our members legally buying up Shares through their SIP at this present time and if this has an effect on the Share price making it increase then so be it.Binsey wrote: ↑19 Feb 2023, 15:52Any inkling the Staff are up to something I can bet my last pound there would be takeover or the markets and Government step in.

I have no doubt the Government or Royal Mail would step in and change the rules of the game but at least try and fight back.

They lost £200million in cash, shitloads of lucrative contracts, a whole load of regular customers and their reputation is in tatters.
The problem is members still think it's 1995 and the damage strikes do is measured in a backlog of mail, that isn't going to happen even if we strike for two weeks solid.

I have decided to put my money where my mouth is and I have restarted saving into my SIP.

Re: Time to think outside the Box.
I doubt they would want them.
My rationale would be if Kretinsky wants to own Royal Mail then he pays the correct price and it isn't any where near £2 a share.
If he doesn't want to pay up then he is best to go away and leave us alone.
