I would have to question the Slymans mathematical skills, i am sure he went to college and got a degree in business studies or the likes, but i am afraid his adding up is around about primary school stage. 1 million a day before industrial action and quoting 300 million loss with 200 million attributable to the strike action does not equate to 1 million a day losses through the business, more to do with his refusal to interact with the union and try to break us. Guess what over 95% say feck you. Good luck to him next week when he gets a almighty wedgie from the parliamentary Committee and whatever that results in for him is all self inflicted.
And that is exactly why the CWU have not got a deal. 24/48 hours strike does not work with a twat at the helm.

I call on the CWU to bring this dispute to an end quickly. We now have another outstanding yes vote. Don't waste it. Call an all out strike. RM will then have 2 weeks to come up with a serious offer. It will also stop executive action being forced on us which nobody likes.
Are union members really going to support such a move?
1 or 2 day strikes are not working now. Work to rule will not work, but I will say it will frustrate RM. Executive action will continue. Less rounds more staff become reserves and then rostered crap shifts. More agency staff will get employed. Part timers can't work up to full time hours. It's time to stand up and say no more.
That didn't answer my question!

A few have commented that these 1&2 day strikes aren't working, I'm not convinced, I suspect it's the same thinking that any backlog quickly gets cleared but it's also been mentioned loads of times that creating a backlog was never the objective, it's the threat to RM of possibly losing customers due to uncertainty.

No one can fail to have noticed how quiet it currently is, take valentine's day for example, hardly any flowers sent through us so unless everyone really clamped down on spending they must have gone with the other parcel companies.

It’s not change to meet the needs of the customer though is it Simon? It’s change to force people out the business and force a reduced USO.
Customer service is well down the list of priorities.

Last week was extremely busy for us. Almost like they had stalled the letters for revisions to be quickly rushed through or something to justify carving up jobs - then as soon as revision was implemented, literally the day after mail volumes were through the roof. Extremely quiet to extremely busy overnight, and it stayed like it for a good week or so.
Similar to the trick they played at Christmas when they lied about clearing.
It might not be the case but it certainly seemed very coincidental how it all panned out…

Not there this week though so who knows

Am leaning toward the later part that money is really tight right now for a lot of households that would have brought anything and everything - looking in the news you can see the downturn with job cuts :thumbdown - strange part is the more every company cuts jobs the less people have to spend which makes more company's lay more workers off, hope the ladder company can make a big enough ladder for this hole that is getting made.

Id like to think this result will be enough for the board to see that they really need to change the tune - if this was a football team the manager (ST) has lost the dressing room and time to go.

Quite sure Thompson is part of the Borg collective.
Language is the same, resistance is futile, you will be assimilated.
You will walk at 4mph, deliver at break neck speeds & stay out until your mission is completed.
If you do not so you will be cast into the cold realms of space.

Problem is we're not a football team and you don't know what the Board's real intentions are, I doubt they've now been caught out by such a big yes note. Yesterday's preemptive response of pleading poverty seemed a weak one.

Money going to rich shareholders and execs is an essential business expenditure.

Money going to hard working employees is an unecessary cost that needs to be cut.

It's how these people operate.

I've noticed this phenomena at our last 3 revisions. The weeks and months before it, traffic was low and walks were fairly comfortably achievable. Then as soon as revision is implemented, we are met with a tsunami of mail and parcels. It's a very suspicious coincidence that it happens with every revision!

Return all those shareholder payouts and ridiculous bonuses and the company is fine.

The current board are just a carry on of previous boards, bleeding us dry. Blame the clowns who sold RM, look at the massive profit this magnificent company has made in the last 10 years - would have stayed in RM bank account. Pay the shareholders off and go back as we were, if that's possible ?
