A guy I know had 'sick pay at pensionable rate'. That was what was on his pay slip.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

i gotta admit rm absence policy currently is pretty generous.not many other companies would give 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay.everything else about the company atm is dire though.

yes they are good terms, but those terms were fought for and won by the union. RM did not just give us those terms out of the goodness of their heart.......and now they want to take them away.

Were they? When?
I think a lot of our terms and conditions come from having been civil servants.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Very good discussion here.
Pension, good sick pay, good holidays, work time flexibility, diversity, equal opportunities, fair minded conduct code, good appeals procedure, easy to get a domestic, bullying and harassment procedure, certain allowances added to your wages to help ends meet, the list goes on.

Are all these a result of being part of the civil service that is steadily being privatised or are all these a result of our Trade union fighting tooth and nail to improve our working lives?
I'm not sure because I don't have enough history within the company to form a well balanced opinion.
What do others think?

when you run out of the 6 months full then 6 months half sick pay you move on to pay at pension rate as if you had been ill health retired OR half pay whichever is the least

Get your union rep on to it if you are not getting paid that but it should come through automatically from Wages/HR

So they weren't fought for then?, so did RM just give us those terms cos they thought we deserved them?
