I recently contacted CWU head office with regards to annualised hours and some peoples concerns over forced overtime, the response was contact your local office. Having tried emailing my local office on previous occasions with no response at all I went straight to the top, absolutely rubbish 'we're still here ' my arse

I tried to email my local office and the email was returned, unknown email address. Then I found out who was running the local office and all hope drained away.

I pay subs etc and been a member years..... No local rep and I know of no contact locally.

I therefore emailed cwu national hq email address on the website think it was something like infocwu.org with a bit of a query..... Now to be fair my enquiry was something with a national angle and so national hq query were best placed to answer it and it was not a local issue anyhow...

When I emailed cwu hq I also sent the same email to Andy fury and Dave ward also .... Addressed to them in person just to be sure some human being got on the end of my email..

It was not a difficult query not a personal query and no reason why they would not be able to answer it in a generic sense.

The email was sent a couple of months ago.

Not only have I had no response but not even an acknowledgment to say they have even received


Very dissatisfied and disappointing I must say

I intend to withdraw my cwu membership very soon... As at the very least I expect a response!! Don't just blank me and ignore it how rude and arrogant.

Even a response to say we can't answer it and the reason is cuz would have sufficed (but there is no reason rationally why they would not be able to answer... It's nothing private personal or confidential, just merely an enquiry regarding national standards)

That's poor, I must admit Im thinking of leaving the union too with that shitty attitude. Many years ago when I started the union was very much accessible ,less so know

But if just<< 1% of members wrote to Dave Ward, that's still over 150 enquiries per month. I'm not sure he has the staff to answer all these properly.

I'm not sure the Union would think it was value for money to employ the staff it would require,⁸⁸ given that there are branches and regional offices who provide the local presence. Those branches can triage whether it is a matter for the national executive and whether it can be answered locally.

Providing responses from Dave's office to individual members is something we would have to agree to fund at Conference. Ie The majority of the attending delegates,⁸ both BT and Royal Mail, agree that they want to pay for a personal communications office for the General Secretary. Let's say it's 1.5 to 2 officers to answer the 150 monthly enquiries at say 30k each per year ( London weighting & &employers costs) ?? It's expensive to provide that sort of access.

However, if only 0.1% of members write to him, which seems more plausible, then it's only about 200 enquiries a year and I think Dave should make time to answer so few enquiries, even if it takes him 12 to 16 weeks to do so.

It would be interesting to know how many direct questions are received and ignored. It's foolish on the part of the Executive to ignore them utterly because the level of dis satisfaction it causes is so high.

Ann Summers too, quite nice to look at I guess. I don't expect the CWU to answer everything, but just give us leadership and tell us how we can fight management - what are our limits to what we can do in protest (without all getting suspended) Am thinking of packing in the union as well.

Think there is alot of dissatisfied members on here but according to another poster in a diff thread their only whining dickheads.
