Fantastic day today, went much better than expected, finally caught up and cleared the frame. (Lots of letters left in other frames I noticed).

Spent 5 hours walking around on rutted ice 2 inches thick. (sat) Were directed to only take letter where going with parcels. Most walks have about 6-10 trays of non prepped mail in them sitting by the frame.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

For the night shift in MCs for Valentines Day deliveries it was way quieter than what I expected. Don't think it was any busier than a normal Monday. Not many extra flowers and I didn't see many cards pass through. I'd expected there to be loads passing through from places like Moonpig but didn't see any

That's because of the "cost of living crisis".

I doubt people have much spare cash, so a hand delivered card to a loved one 😍 will have to do this year.

My guess is Royal Mail have lost contracts for this time critical business. Does anyone know any more? It was reidiculously quiet for packets and flowers as well as letters and large letters on both Monday and Tuesday this week at our place.

Delivering mother's day cards and flowers late....

It's an embarrassment to work for Royal Mail right now.

Got into work today after a week off. Only one side of the duty went out on Saturday, the other side was taken out but brought back, leaving me to put the lot back in. This included many Mother’s Day cards. Apparently the manager was told that the mail wouldn’t be delivered, so can the Mother’s Day cards go only? Nope, didn’t give a damn as long as the frame was clear. Shameful company.

Just got my poll card through the post for the local election in May. This time it was a printed piece of paper an an envelope but it hadn't been through any machines. It could have easily been put through the machines and sequenced, don't know why they weren't

Yesterday I received a text message to inform me that the mail centre was offering some more VRs in addition to the ones already awarded, with twenty-four hours to express an interest to management. I arrived at work this evening to discover that Angard casuals had been called in at 11:00 am to work until midnight, and that managers were running around offering overtime to anyone who would listen. It all makes perfect sense.

Seems like we've got more casuals/agency since the realignment

Hi Space Phoenix.

Poll cards are "out of normal service plan" items.

Hence why they don't go through your machines.

And hence why deliveries get the extra few pence to prep and deliver.

Also Saturday's don't count towards the RM/council 3 day rule for clearing them.

We've put poll cards through the machines before. If they don't arrive at the MC in sealed direct boxes, they'll get put through the machines
