For what it's worth delivery still has an agreement that the second 20mins of a 40min break can be taken at the end and there's no requirement to stay on the premises.

If that changes members might have to change their behaviour but until it does your point is as usual redundant.
The higher ups won't care that a break is being taken at the end of the shift, if someone signs out early, all the higher ups will see is people finishing early

RM probably believe we all use trolleys. If youre lucky enough to return 1 hour early, dont moan when they bang loads more work on you. We have to be 100% with the siso and taking breaks, dont give em enough rope to hang you, sure the cwu will keep us informed...not. Apart from rural and DPR duties, ours are mainly 7.00 starts and 2.45/3 finishes at moment.

People need to speak to the COM/Lino whatever they've got to ensure the following:

FAQ's attached to LTB 285/21:
Rightly or wrongly some people have arrangements with their manager to
work through their break and finish their shifts early. How will this be
reflected on SISO and will their be any consequences for these people?

These arrangements should be reflected in the MDS plan and understood by both parties when reviewing the
collective hours at weekly resource meetings.

Locally those who did take their break at the end of the shift and went home early have been blocked from doing so, they now have to take their break during the shift and sign-out at their official finish time. I'd imagine that the same will apply everywhere both in MCs and DOs

We can have our break at the end but have to stay in the office. Very annoying as it can make me late for school and seems pointless as we all standing around waiting to sign out. Where could I find out if we can actually leave for the last 20 mins as I would like to show it to our manager?

Leaving 20 minutes before the end of your duty and using contractual break, entitlement is down to an individual local agreement between rep and manager for that delivery office.
It's in the Way Forward Agreement.

"Where an attendance is provided with more than one break, the second break may be scheduled at the beginning or end, in which case attendance is not required solely for booking on or off. A single break should not be scheduled at the beginning or end of the attendance."

This means that if you take 20 minutes before going out, you don't have to stay at the end.

Print it out and show them it in writing.

And the key in the agreement is "May"

It has to be agreed by the rep and Delivery Office manager to be implemented into that individual office

And the Working Time regulations state you cannot take your statutory break entitlement of 20 minutes at the beginning or end of your duty. It has to be near the middle of your duty span.

Unless you are required to take your full 40 minutes indoors before leaving on delivery, that still applies.

Most offices AFAIK require staff (maybe with the exception of some P/T staff on certain hours) to take at least one break before leaving due to H&S.

People also need to know the Working Time Regulations of a 20 minute break only apply if your duty is six hours or more. Anytime below six hours, the employer can tell you when to take a break as a contractual obligation..

The higher ups won't see that someone is taking part of their break at the end of the shift, all they'll see is people finishing early. Don't forget that loads of hours are being taken out of DOs, how many of them hours are down to people showing in SISO as finishing early everyday?

Have to agree with the above statement. The data being recorded by the PDA will go into a national central database, not local resourcing.

Only in the strange niave world of RM would anyone attempt to justify leaving 20 minutes early by claiming that "I never took my break".
In the Real World, the reply would be "more fool you then, but you're still staying to the end of your attendance time".

Instead of taking the 20min meal relief at the end of the shift people should be taking 20 mins whilst out on delivery. Managers will be at us every day 'why didn't you move for 20 mins yesterday?' :Very Happy it's odd that some in delivery will start early for no pay and go without breaks, when I worked for a while in processing not one person didn't take their breaks and there wasnt a chance of anyone working for nothing

100%.

Not having your due breaks , starting and finishing on time is unthinkable in Network, DistrIbution or Mail Centres.

Unfortunately a significant minority in DOs have ruined it for the majority.

People now are in for a real wake up call.

A 40 minute break is just one break, splitting it in half dosnt make it 2 breaks

When SISO was launched at our place the rep & COM contacted the area manager enquiring whether we could take our final 20 mins at the back end of shift & clock out ‘early’ - he replied with an email stating this was fine. It was pinned up next to the clocking in machine for a while.

Hardly watertight stuff but it’s the way we are rolling at the moment, however - I’m aware things could change come April
“Shorts,in this weather?!”

“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”

“What’s she been ordering now?”
