It is almost as if the union leadership have no idea what is going on in delivery offices. For a company that is ‘against the ropes’ they sure do seem to be bringing in everything they want, regardless of the union at this point.

It was always going to be a Hail Mary Pass calling a strike just in the dying minutes of a ballot.

No harm done at least the Hardliner Strike Breakers will stop moaning about losing more money (I don't know WHY they moan because they never go on strike)

and strikers going in on overtime after strikes to make up for lost pay.

Apparently whoever said the changes will be instituted regardless of union involvement is correct. My postman, who started as a cadet over 30 years ago, told me today 18 duties are going this Monday to be picked up by the remaining duties, no redundancies and still 6 vacancies unfilled. The problem with the union ignoring the situation and refusing to be involved does mean that RM will institute whatever changes they think fit. The union at local level at least should be involved in the changes they are the ones with the necessary local knowledge.

All 5 day week drives going at the end of the month no redundancies a lot of senior men without a job and having to work ad-hoc.
Half have said they are just going to leave.
It would seem to be a useful tactic for royal mail to rid themselves of senior staff for a more pliable junior workforce.

The union's lack of involvement is not through any choice being made by the CWU. It's RM refusing to allow a constructive input from the union, at any level. Ignorance doesn't even come into the equation, the CWU is being shut out, and bypassed.

Almost non compliance with the cwu now, just as other couriers have no union on site. Bigger picture to slash RM and the CWU and to rid themselves of us dinosaurs (60+) seems to be working well for Thompson and his henchmen. Getting to the point where i see no positive outcome for us, just a knackered despondent workforce.

I think it's far too late for the CWU negotiators to become involved but the local reps should make themselves available for organising any changes mooted at shop floor level because that's where it counts not sat round a table negotiating duties of which they have no knowledge.

The basic parameters for the revisions have to be negotiated at a national level.
Without a basic framework then the local reps would have nothing to work with.
I think many are out of their depth anyway and want no part in the disasters.

Revisions were not originally on Royal Mail's agenda to start with either. It was a proposal that got tacked on after the company decided to concede on no Compulsory Redundancies in the course of negotiations. Well, of course they would as it was all just a big publicity stunt.

I thought yearly revisions were something we agreed to under Agenda for Change.

Yes, its in the Pathway to Change Agreement that Royal Mail would have these revisions - but that they would involve the CWU.

Implementing them via executive action whilst the company are supposed to be in negotiation over other things just makes the situation worse and any sort of agreement less likely.

Better to have some input than no input at all at whatever level but most certainly at shop floor level where the changes are going to take place and have the most impact on the members.

In our office, they have asked a few of the senior posties to help out with planning the bigger walk routes


Why put yourself up for that? They won't be the ones that are receiving a decent bonus to push through these revisions and its quite a few thousand that they have offered to the COMs to push it through.

It’s because they are so incompetent they couldn’t even get the language right when serving notice, referenced revisions which we were not balloted on. Now the Cwu are crying on Facebook saying the country’s laws are against them. Absolutely shameless they have let us all down again.

Don't speak for me . You should now resign from the CWU and accept whatever RM want.

Toonshola why don't you do everyone a favour, including yourself, by cancelling your CWU membership and simply accept your future reduced earnings (if you still have a job that is). From what I can see your efforts at Gaslighting members against the CWU is quite transparent. Are you a Royal Mail Manager by any chance?
