Zareena Says
Financial assistance for those in need of help – our 140-year strong postal charity
A message from Zareena Brown. Please watch.
We know things are tough right now. The cost of living is the highest it has been in 40 years and against that backdrop, we have had 18 days of CWU strike action. This has meant 18 days of lost pay for our employees.
We know that has a significant impact on everyone, and for some it’s even tougher. The CWU has been talking about setting up a hardship fund for its members for months, but nothing is currently in place.
You may not know this but the Rowland Hill Fund, the dedicated charity for postal workers, can help. When times get tough, the Rowland Hill fund has been there to help colleagues facing financial difficulties for a variety of reasons.
For over 140 years, financial aid has been available to Royal Mail Group colleagues since it was established in 1882 as a memorial to the great postal reformer and founder of the modern postal service, Sir Rowland Hill.
It’s seen our people through life-changing events such as health condition diagnoses, the global pandemic - Covid-19 and relocating people into safe locations.
To support Rowland Hill Fund, Royal Mail has donated money and provided ongoing benefit in kind support. We’ve also contributed towards fundraising through donation matching, competitions and spreading the word about the formidable fund. In turn, the charity has been able to help 456 colleagues with over £305,000 worth of grants provided to colleagues in need.
If you find yourself in a position of needing financial support, you can have an informal and confidential chat by contacting the helpline: 0345 600 4586 or applying online: https://www.rowlandhillfund.org/apply-for-help.
Thank you and remember, as a Royal Mail employee you are never on your own. Talk to your line manager, call the helpline, visit the website. You can ask for help.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Another tactic to undermine our union. You would be a mug to fall for this.

The information below is cut and pasted without editing from the home page of the ROWLAND HILL FUND.
It says to those that the ever so helpful Zareena is addressing and directing to the Fund, we are not here for you either.
"Please note: The Fund is a small charity with limited resources. It considers support for those facing unexpected financial challenges. The Fund does not provide ongoing financial support.
Unfortunately, the Fund does not consider applications due to cost-of-living increases or strike action.
If your income does not cover your outgoings, we would recommend speaking with StepChange Debt Charity (0800 138 1111) or your local Citizens Advice Bureau."
No one is falling for this sort of propaganda Royal Mail. Actually, it serves to remind employees of your attitude towards them. An Own Goal.

The day before the business imposed that 2% pay rise last year, she posted this...
RMCtv : Zareena 'Just get yourself a loan' Brown : Providing our people with support in times of need

The cost of living is the highest it has been in 40 years and against that backdrop we won't give you a relevant pay rise !!

Well spotted. A clear pattern of positioning from HR.
The Royal Mail HR Huddle goes like this..
TEAM. I know what we do now.. lets craft another sweet little communication which says how much we care... we're in it together... love us, cos we love you guys...
We can signpost things which suggest they will solve problems caused by low pay ... none do, but that's irrelevant ..(unaffordable debt/companies offering just a listening ear/charities with qualifying criteria that exclude 99.99% of situations)...we're saying were helping and that's enough.
But this time, get this TEAM...we sling mud at the only in work independent organisation who's standing in our way of pushing the workers around and improving the share price and our bonuses!
Smiles all round "Zareena, you're such a clever clogs! What a stealthy piece of hearts and minds propaganda! Take another zillion quid for yourself. You are driving a fantastic CHANGE agenda !!"

As a Royal Mail employee, I am frequently on my own, often surrounded by stupid, aggressive, management, bent on trying to get me to do the impossible.
That bitch, whoever she is, can f**k right off with the false caring and sharing sham.

Since 2020, governments and business have been using George Orwell's classic novel, 1984, as an operating manual.Zicomurphy wrote: ↑08 Feb 2023, 18:58“The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

All bad ideas come out of HR Depts.
On face of it it does look like GO 1984 but in reality it’s more Aldous Huxleys Brave New World.

Some stunning irony there from our caring, sharing (but only if you’re a shareholder or executive) employer.
How about a pay rise that gets remotely near inflation Zareena?
Simple, eh?
