Why the heck are we striking?

How do you think they are going to challenge the ballot,keep hearing this in my office but nobody seems to know how same people who were saying we will be getting sacked after striking on xmas eve

We have had 10 walks removed & spread around the office, all the frames have already been changed we all start one hour later from the 27th February, our DOM says he will get the planners to sign it all off when they eventually turn up, the office is in chaos, that why we are striking, we need an extra day off

I agree, but then I know nobody who thinks this.

The votes' main point is to show RM how strong the feeling is, the more who vote, and the more who vote yes, give the CWU a stronger hand, not a winning one.

They will find a way. We have seen how amateur our union can be over the last few years so I wouldn’t be too confident they have fully covered all eventualities. The only reason in my opinion that Royal Mail didn’t challenge last years ballot was because they wanted us to strike so they could use the clause in previous agreements to rip them up which they did quite successfully. The CWU is always three steps behind.

Weren't CWU saying a couple of weeks ago to NOT vote if you've been given redundancy that would take effect before the ballot?
How can they confirm/refute that redundees haven't/have voted? That's your starter for ten.
How about a bonus that CWU's records of of who works where are not up to date from last years ballots? They normally do that
before a ballot but they haven't done it for this one (AFAIK).

If there isn't anybody to do the work they can change what they like who cares? Yes they are losing alot of money 1 and 2 day strikes but they can still get through it. All out from the start and don't go back see how long they manage then lol

I suppose I was a bit snippy with the OP and I’m sorry for that. Ultimately it comes down to how we want to be treated at work and what service we deliver to the public.

However try and not get stressed over any of it. It’s a just a job now. Clock in, do your duty to the best of your ability and clock out on time.

Threaten to be taken off duty? Fine. You have to be placed somewhere.

Suddenly to slow to complete. Fine. Prep test me.

Not allowed to finish on time for childcare? Come back early. Let them try and discipline you

That’s how I think to. You have a set amount of hours you get paid for they can’t make you do more if you don’t want to.

I have my own round but I don’t own it. It’s Royal Mails round and it’s their customers.

I agree the union is amateur at times but they only managed to get the rolling strikes cancelled the last round of strikes we were still out all the other days,you could be right that they wanted us to strike so they could withdraw from agreement but i can't see how they can challenge it this time round

The company want this negative reaction to occur. Thats why they are stalling negotiations, bullying staff in the workplace etc. Its simple psychology and the weak fall first.
The only way we will keep any dignity is to stand together against the oppressors, or forever live on our knees with the company deciding everything...Is that what people want?

Our office revision will go live on 13th March. There is no repick. And the starting time has been pushed back by just 15 minutes.
