RM Communications
Customer Service Point (CSP) Review Update
As you will know, at the end of last year we began a review of our Customer Service Point (CSP) operation and consultations with the CWU.
We understand that this has created a level of uncertainty for you and wanted to provide you with an update on the situation as soon as we could. We are sorry that it has taken longer than expected.
Having completed the first stage of the review and considered a range of options, we have decided to maintain the current estate of Customer Service Points as we seek to further improve our first-time delivery rates.
Following successful trials, we will additionally roll out automatic next day redeliveries for missed parcels in the coming months. This is designed to make it even easier for customers to receive parcels at home, without the need to travel to a Customer Service Point. This builds on Royal Mail’s introduction of a range of alternative delivery options for greater convenience in recent years, including free redelivery, delivery to a neighbour, the option to leave parcels in a Safeplace and inflight redirections through the App and website.
As footfall continues to decrease, it is important that we continue to improve the efficient running of our Customer Service Points. The next stage of this review will focus on ensuring that opening hours match demand, and ways of working. It is clear that as footfall continues to reduce, we will need to change ways of working in our Customer Service Points. This may require changes to staffing levels, and more flexibility from employees in terms of roles and responsibilities.
We will keep you informed as we progress the next stage of the review.
Please send any questions in relation to the CSP review to questions@royalmail.com.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

more flexibility from employees in terms of roles and responsibilities
Here we go again.
What do we think this "flexibility" will be? CSP staff will have to do a full delivery, and their PDA will notify them that a customer has turned up so they have to nip back to serve?
"Our trials showed it takes no extra time"

And why is there never any flexibility in return? Where are the new innovative work patterns and hours, an annual leave system that doesn’t require you to choose 2 years before the time itself?sindba wrote: ↑09 Feb 2023, 17:06more flexibility from employees in terms of roles and responsibilities

If this was published by any other company you’d say, fair enough. RM have the talent of making everything sound so sinister…sindba wrote: ↑09 Feb 2023, 17:06more flexibility from employees in terms of roles and responsibilities

“Shorts,in this weather?!”
“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”
“What’s she been ordering now?”

Re: CSP's closing is there a list?
When I was covering the callers in my old office on my late turn set I would frequently get sent out the office to go deliver parcels or do a collection.sindba wrote: ↑09 Feb 2023, 17:06more flexibility from employees in terms of roles and responsibilities

I would imagine this is nothing new.

Re: CSP's closing is there a list? Update 9/2 Closers cancelled : "we have decided to maintain the current estate of Customer Service Points"
Never know why Royal Mail don't sell and install parcel boxes and deliver a leaflet advertising the service to all households. Even if they sold them on the cheap and broke even - it would be beneficial for Royal Mail in saving time and money having to write out dockets and do redeliveries and lessen customers coming to the customer service point, as well as reducing the risk of parcels going missing.
Where's the common sense management at Royal Mail. Do they not think this is at least worth a try. Even if they partnered with a company that sells these parcel boxes and simply do a leaflet drop to all 33million households advertising the product.
I get it - the uptake would likely be low, but it will still be worth it.
Also a law needs to be put in place that a letterbox from now on needs to be at least 3 feet off the ground and A4 size. If anyone's postbox isn't this size they may opt for fitting a postbox on a wall.
This will save a tonne of time and reduce injuries.

This bulletin has been put out as a deflection should it be asked about in the up coming Parliamentary Select Committee. Once that's over it'll be back on the agenda.
