Oh look, for the umpteenth time the union are made to look like bumpkins that have fallen drunkenly into their first rodeo. It’s not the mistakes that irk me so much as the inability to build momentum. Every small victory that RM achieve is one that gnaws at the doubts of some of the less militant members. As the political landscape of this country has proven, disputes and conflict are no longer about truth, nor even lies. They’re about point-scoring and oneupmanship, they’ve been turned into football matches where each side fights for points, and each side has a partisan following. Every time RM score a goal, a sliver of morale is eroded.

CWU needs better people advising it while the mistakes column currently greatly exceeds the number of victories that we, the members, can count. And of course, I would always vote yes, regardless. That doesn’t mean that I hold the top-brass of the union in any great esteem.

Yep pity that Royal Mail are Muhammad Ali and the CWU are George Foreman and we will fall over in the 8th round from exhaustion

The fight eventually caught up with Ali and killed him.
Foreman however is still healthy and enjoying life or so I believe.
I hope there's a message in there somewhere for us.

I can only speak for myself but I am considerably more angered by Mr Macaulay's tone than I am by any failings of the union!!

Listen I'm not happy with the communication coming from the cwu and from what I've heard RM implementations can't be legal,but please get off Dave's and Andy's backs they are doing the best they can,not only are they dealing with a corrupt board ,but we have to deal with a corrupt government that don't care about the working class.and other unions are in the same boat .when Dave and Andy do speak to us you can see how hard they are working to get us a reasonable deal.they shattered.If we had more people like ward,fury,lynch and Dempsey on the boards and even in government this country would be a better place.and they have great fighters surnames aswell

Personally thought it was more his 3rd battle with Smokin' Joe in the Thriller in Manilla that did for Ali

How can their implementations not be legal? We may not agree with their implementations but if they were illegal we wouldn't be striking, we would be in court putting a stop to it. People have to realise, so long as they do not break the law they can pretty much do as they want. All wd can do is take action and hope they change direction.

RM have stated they have now gone into Dispute Resolution Process regarding revisions, so does this mean there can be no strike action for a month whilst talks take place and resolutions are not agreed?

Thats the way that I read it. However, the CWU have said that they are not against the revisions per se - just that Royal Mail are forcing through revisions without their involvement.

Revisions were not originally on Royal Mail's agenda to start with either. It was a proposal that got tacked on after the company decided to concede on no Compulsory Redundancies in the course of negotiations. Well, of course they would as it was all just a big publicity stunt.

There was no open net, and they haven't scored. Out of desperation RM threatened to use the courts to silence the members and prevent the right to withdraw our labour. Remember that. ST is trying to stop your voice being heard.

I would disagree. There is a lot riding on the reballot and they have just made CWU look inept. They want people questioning the union and not voting

The inept thing would've been allowing this challenge to go to court, and risking the upcoming ballot. For as long as the law is the way it is, there is always going to be these challenges.
