Not for the first time I’ve come back from holiday and leaflets 4 of them from last week not done I complained to manager as I refused to do them but he says must be done this week plus 3 more this week!is this not willful delay on his part and who do I complain to about this? Also lapsing walk was left for 4?days last week and I had to clear yesterday yet other walks clearing every day, it’s a farce out moment with agency staff walks d2d just being left every where, apparently last week e manager did Christmas leaflets which have been left! Who is responsible and can we take this further as no rep and it’s a mess everywhere with tracked still done instead of letters

Re: D2d
Your manager is a bit of a tool.
Treat last weeks D2Ds as this week’s, this week’s as next week’s etc. Unless they are time limited vouchers it won’t make any difference.
You won’t be paid double because you are delivering double so just don’t do it all in one week.
It is the manager’s failure to get them delivered last week, not yours.

Not throwing them in so he can and I’ll do this week next week, it’s just so annoying the lack of organization from management I don’t know any other business they could get away with it, he then has the nerve today to try to say the union are lying about changes and I should vote no!

Where does the time come from prepping them
That's a question your COM needs to look into - we accept the posting customers money with the agreement to prep and deliver these items.
The time to prep should be planned in
1. Should be build into prep time and agreed during weekly resourcing meeting if it happens
2. See the post above - they should be there on time and if not reported and any delays fixed. If this is happening I completely understand the frustration
3. Agreed this may take extra time - but we are paid to deliver these items - same as we are paid to deliver addressed mail
4. COM should be planning this in - especially important on lapsed walks as you state
5. All should be delivered on Saturdays - most will have been delivered if prepped at the start of the week.
6. No priority in my opinion - as I've stated we are paid to deliver D2D too. So we must attempt to do so
Why are we delivering D2D which is past a deadline advertising meetings or dates to attend things
we shoudn't be
I agree if not completed on days or even weeks off - it must be so frustrating and not right.
This is why we try and encourage 'warm calling' which I know isn't perfect - but it encourages everybody to take D2D items out with mail items prepped into the frames. The prep obviously takes time as mentioned numerous times in this post - however once done - no excuse not to take items out as long as we are delivering letters....
COMs have a role to play and in my opinion can share the task of checking these are being taken out daily by asking WPCs to help too.
The current process does rely on trust from all - COMs to report and control and front line posties to deliver.
What is the situation with regards delivering "out of date" door to doors?
they simply shouldn't be. I've given guidance on this direct to managers - simply put - we can 'roll items' into the week after due delivery in exceptional circumstances - but must report this. When reported - we do check with the customer..
Ron
Make sure we get them then on a Monday I'm sick to death of them turning up on the frame Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm not aware of any delays now in terms of processing and networking through to the Delivery Offices. If this is taking place please let Andy Chatburn and I know as we can investigate. You should be receiving the items by the Saturday prior to the week of delivery.
That must be really frustrating Ron. Can you let us know what office this is Ron and we can investigate. Monitoring Walk Bundling Centre performance over the years there have been very few failures to dispatch on time - there were some challenges in the autumn but that has been rare. I don't have the same insight into any issues at Mail Centres so if you and anyone else is experiencing this we need to know.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Do as the manager says. if prepping and delivering them takes you over your time, claim the OT or bring back what you cant do.Dont let it bother you.You are paid to do your hours and at the moment we have a finish time. Take all your break, sign out forget and repeat.

That’s what I’m doing but how do they get away with poor organization all the time and who should be held responsible? It’s just so frustrating how poor it is but I guess I just continue to cut off and on there head be itEdward Hunter wrote: ↑07 Feb 2023, 21:14Do as the manager says. if prepping and delivering them takes you over your time, claim the OT or bring back what you cant do.Dont let it bother you.You are paid to do your hours and at the moment we have a finish time. Re: D2d
As I've said before, I always prep the next days leaflets into the frame when I get back - if there's still time left on my duty time, it makes the next day so much easier.
The old rule about clearing everything out of the frame on a Saturday stopped due to covid, so now it just rolls into next week.

I’m guessing a lot of people don’t just forget the Royal Mail as this site proves! I’m not worried about it just asking how can they be constantly disorganized and who can actually sort management out!

Things have gotten worse since they scrapped the role of delivery office manager. Now each line manager is making stuff up as they go along until challenged.Wheelbarrow wrote: ↑08 Feb 2023, 19:23I’m guessing a lot of people don’t just forget the Royal Mail as this site proves! Re: D2d
I know of an office not far from here that had 13 D2Ds, I don’t know if some had rolled over. As you say, start time finish time.
We need a huge change of attitude, switch off, stop caring (which I know goes against the way most of us feel), do as instructed, finish on time and let managers deal with it.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: D2d
On the day you are asked to take the previous weeks d2d's, simply tell the manager you don't think this is right (have a witness present) but on their instruction you will comply...
Then go home, and send an email CC'ing in the OPL with the following.
"Dear COM,
Upon your instruction today I delivered d2d items that were due for delivery the prior week. I would just like clarification in writing that this instruction still stands as I feel uncomfortable doing so without further clarification.
Kind regards,"
I guarantee you 99.99% you will go in to office next day and the d2d items will have magically vanished.
