Again though....how would that scupper the new ballot?2chorizon wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:44vdaveyeff wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:39Did the union actually state we were striking because of the revisions? ...what was the wording of the strike notification?....and even it that was correct how will that scupper the new ballot?
In this case, when notifying us of strike action the CWU referenced the implementation of revisions as the reason to strike. But this was not covered under the change ballot last year - in fact this item in dispute didn’t even exist at the time of that second ballot.
We have today served the legal notice on RMG under the current Change ballot for a 24-hour strike action as follows:
The strike will cover all duties and scheduled attendance commencing between the period at or after 12:30pm on Thursday 16th February 2023 and before 12:30pm on Friday 17th February 2023.
The Postal Executive has called this strike action as a consequence of RMG’s ongoing and planned Executive Action in local offices across the UK, whereby the company are implementing Revisions and unagreed change, whilst refusing to negotiate locally or apply the terms of the IR Framework.

Why should they resign from cwu seeing it was the cwu who f--ked up yet again.timbo1234 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:53Don't speak for me . You should now resign from the CWU and accept whatever RM want.toonshola wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 19:44It’s because they are so incompetent they couldn’t even get the language right when serving notice, referenced revisions which we were not balloted on. Now the Cwu are crying on Facebook saying the country’s laws are against them. Absolutely shameless they have let us all down again.

Probably tie up the union in court for a few weeks during which time they may not be able to do the required things for the new ballot. All it would take would be an adjournment for a technical issue and everything would be paused.daveyeff wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 21:13Again though....how would that scupper the new ballot?2chorizon wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:44vdaveyeff wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:39Did the union actually state we were striking because of the revisions? ...what was the wording of the strike notification?....and even it that was correct how will that scupper the new ballot?

CWU continue to be utter f***ing amateurs, shocking absolutely nobody.
What are we actually paying subs for? It's not for Dave Ward to go on Facebook 3 times a week and puff his chest out, it's to actually manage this dispute properly.
Does nobody run the notices by a solicitor first before announcing them? nobody checks the language to make sure it stands up?
Moaning about 'anti-union' legislation while making basic f**k ups like this, Royal Mail barely even has to try at this point.

Prevent us striking on the new ballot whilst the court case progresses i guess.daveyeff wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 21:13Again though....how would that scupper the new ballot?2chorizon wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:44vdaveyeff wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:39Did the union actually state we were striking because of the revisions? ...what was the wording of the strike notification?....and even it that was correct how will that scupper the new ballot?

Totally agree, we're forced to fight with one hand tied behind our backs due to the anti union legislation, yeah it seems like a balls up but what choice have we got, the unusual suspects bleating on about how the union aren't doing anything about executive action and they've messed it up blah blah blah so they try and do something to respond and it gets blocked because this government want to smash all unions, so what do the whingers want, to give up, no we vote yes in massive numbers and show Thompson and his creatures and the morally bankrupt tories we don't want their sweatshop economics, stick together, vote yes, support strikes when they're called that's how we winderricksmyth wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 21:25Listen deep breath, relax. Spot on comrade. Yeah the union has dropped another bollock but it is nothing fatal in the great scheme of things.derricksmyth wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 21:25Listen deep breath, relax. I'm disappointed & angry at another seemingly amateurish mistake but wont fall into the trap of not continuing to support the union against these shysters running RM at the moment who are hellbent on destroying anything about the job that makes it a decent & rewarding working life for all CWU members.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

Also it shows RM aren't interested in the anger of their staff but would rather go down the stick route and smash AI rather than sort it out through dialogue

Re: Strike 16/17 February called off
Unfortunately the CWU have shown to be amateurish at best. Even when I listen / watch them on the news they dont present our side as well as they should. Most of it sounds like "blah blah blah.... we have a hardworking workforce, we deserve better....blah blah blah". My opinion. They dont present the greedy attitude at the top, how badly it will affect the public, or how posties will become zero hour workers etc.
This is another cock-up. (confession - i had planned an extra long weekend cos i'm off sat & mon).
That aside. We need to support our union. This was always going to be a long hard battle. The threat of strikes potentially causes us to lose customers in the short term. We are using this to try to force the board to come to the table. Causing a backlog or how quickly we clear it is not that important.
We need to stick together, Vote & pray the CWU learn from their mistakes.
The other option is getting heavily shafted by Royal Mail.

How can they get something like this wrong after they made similar mistakes in the past? They need to be going through everything word for word and double checking it before they make announcements. Inexcusable.

You sound quite proud of this fact. Makes me wonder what the next issue of contention will be

Re: Strike 16/17 February called off
So not for the first time the CWU has had to call off a strike because of a legal challenge, no doubt the leadership will blame "Tory anti-Union legislation" but other unions engaged in current disputes don't seem to have any legal problems, is it because their lawyers double check everything is legally watertight before any strikes are announced, does the CWU even have any lawyers?
