Amusing that Ricky felt to take the piss out of it, but then again, why wouldn't you.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Strike 16/17 February called off
Did the union actually state we were striking because of the revisions? ...what was the wording of the strike notification?....and even it that was correct how will that scupper the new ballot?
In this case, when notifying us of strike action the CWU referenced the implementation of revisions as the reason to strike. But this was not covered under the change ballot last year - in fact this item in dispute didn’t even exist at the time of that second ballot.

People need to know who is in the wrong here and not listen to to cheap shots at the union from the ones who are anger should be aimed at flippant remarks by the head of royal mail are typical of the way they are treating staff people should remember that and not Stoke something up out of nothing yous all know who you'd are on this thread

We have today served the legal notice on RMG under the current Change ballot for a 24-hour strike action as follows:
The strike will cover all duties and scheduled attendance commencing between the period at or after 12:30pm on Thursday 16th February 2023 and before 12:30pm on Friday 17th February 2023.
The Postal Executive has called this strike action as a consequence of RMG’s ongoing and planned Executive Action in local offices across the UK, whereby the company are implementing Revisions and unagreed change, whilst refusing to negotiate locally or apply the terms of the IR Framework.

I saw that too. What a pathetic response to not own up to your mistakes. Sometimes, think union or at least those that run the social media pages are just as bad as the dickheads in senior management on how they come across.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 19:22Someone put on Facebook that this was inevitable and should have been double checked before being announced and CWU admin/Chris Webb replied something like “remember what country we live in” as if we all lived in a different country before the strikes were announced or something. We already knew too well what the laws are like here - how is that an excuse?

Re: Strike 16/17 February called off
I mean, the strike itself was going to do f**k all anyways in terms of causing any issues with RM, seeing as all the mail has fuzzed out for some reason these last few weeks, least in majority of offices it seems like. But, to announce a strike only to back down at last hurdle is embarrassing, especially since it's not the first time this has happened. Wonder what the RM has on the CWU to actually make think they'd win? Seems like the strike action isn't any different than any of the other ones we've done and was supposedly the last day we could legally strike. So what was different about this one?

The more I think about it the more incredible this all is. Did nobody from the union double check this above text and think hmmm could Royal Mail challenge this in any way. Wheres Martin Walsh on these boards right now? Wonder if he cares to crawl from under his rock and explain this shitshow and maybe even offer a rare apology?2chorizon wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:44vdaveyeff wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:39Did the union actually state we were striking because of the revisions? ...what was the wording of the strike notification?....and even it that was correct how will that scupper the new ballot?

Who am I kidding this will all be followed tomorrow by a Facebook live of Webb Ward and Furey crying about the tories anti union laws. Never any responsibility taken for their screw ups and blame always pointed elsewhere. Shambles.

Don't speak for me . You should now resign from the CWU and accept whatever RM want.toonshola wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 19:44It’s because they are so incompetent they couldn’t even get the language right when serving notice, referenced revisions which we were not balloted on. Now the Cwu are crying on Facebook saying the country’s laws are against them. Absolutely shameless they have let us all down again.

Every time they have fecked up it's somebody else's fault.
Don't they want Simon gone (I know we do too but) cause he's fecked up so much?

I actually believe that this "win the ballot, win this dispute" crap is the worst one liner the CWU continue to put out, and should stop it immediately.Kenfandango wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:34
I support the reasons for striking but this whole "win the ballot win the dispute" nonsense is just embarrassingly wishful thinking.... RM are pushing ahead with their plans regardless and using the strikes as cover for their own economic incompetence.
This current board read/hear/watch Ward and Furey spouting this crap out time after time and you can imagine them in their ivory towers saying simply "that's what you effing think mate", and dig their heels in even further.

Just because I criticise the unions leadership doesn’t mean I’m anti union or that I accept what Royal Mail want, far from it. The people running this union are not above criticism and it’s about time they stopped all the bluster and owned their mistakes.timbo1234 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:53Don't speak for me . Re: Strike 16/17 February called off
The method the CWU seems to be using is to announce strike dates or industrial action without thoroughly checking the legality then sit back and wait and hope RM don't find a reason to challenge.
All this will do is make people lose faith in the ability of the Union and make people doubt their competence.
Faith and hope can only take you so far and RM will exploit this doubt for all it's worth.
I wonder what posters will be put up at work tomorrow.

Maybe it is the ucw trying to save face and deliberately messed it up ! On a positive note I am glad the hard pressed members are not losing a days pay for the unions showboating and grandstanding .Bur how many times are this very very wealthy union prepared to let down their members on legal positions ?how much are they getting paid for their advice ?

Re: Strike 16/17 February called off
Sounds like a stupid statement to make. It's a criticism, they've not said anything about agreeing with Thompson or any of them clowns. Not first time the union has been caught out like this. Plus, not only that you are paying them to represent you. Too right you are going to be annoyed if you feel like you aren't getting the service you are paying for. Especially if it's happened three times already. Union flag wavers are just as black and white as the dumbasses at the top. Complete tunnel vision.timbo1234 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 20:53Don't speak for me . Thats whats happening and thats why Ricky McAuley is going for the jugular and highlighting the past mistakes - he can sense that many in the membership are starting to doubt the competency of the leadership.Eduardo wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 21:03The method the CWU seems to be using is to announce strike dates or industrial action without thoroughly checking the legality then sit back and wait and hope RM don't find a reason to challenge.

Expect this narrative, and at this point you have to admit its not an entirely unfair narrative, to be ramped up
