Remember 1st delivery out the office by 645 back by 930. Meal break and a bit of sorting.2nd delivery started at 1045 and back to the office midday latest. It all started to slide when they stopped the 2nd post about 2004.

What were your official starting time and finish time back then? or at least the hours you were contracted to be paid? 4.30-12.30?

I’m pretty sure our finish time during the week was 12.30 up until the park & loop revision of 2010. Saturdays were a different kettle of fish as we all know,being back at 9.30 was the norm for me…

Back in the early days it was 5 am start. 1230 finish during the week. On a Saturday it was same start but a 930 finish .

It'll be the increase in the number of packets over the years and in later years the number of Tracked that resulted in start and finish times in DOs being later

The biggest change to finish times was the move to a 5 day week in 2003 which obviously put about an hour on each working day shifting us to around a 1.30pm finish.

The single biggest change to start times came with the network 2006/7 review which moved us all about an hour later taking us to around 2.30pm.

Start times have crept later since then but finish times have remained mostly the same due to the shorter working week taking us from 40hrs down to 37hrs.

The EU changing the speed limit for lorries to 54mph back in 2007 was also definitely one factor.
