Altercation with dog-procedure

I was delivering LAT'S today, and had and incident with a customers dog. As I was working out of a different DO, what's the procedure regarding report /paperwork.

Unfortunately my Jeans are ruined!

I'd say you have to report it to/with the manager of the DO where the altercation took place, it's their responsibility.
They have to do all the reporting. Ask for copies of what they report or else you can guarantee it'll go to the bottom
of their pending tray.

'Jeans'? Unless you're agency I'd be wearing the crap uniform RM give us, they can pay for replacements!

Report it to your manager or the PIC at the other office, don't let them fob you off. Was the dog out when you called if so this is against RM H&S procedure, don't do it again ? Were you injured, if so the ERICA needs filling in ? Don't let them fob you off. Was there a dog warning on the PDA ? Was there a warning on the walk log ? Report it to the police on 101 give them details and get an incident number. Get photos of your jeans re a claim. Report to your union H&S Rep if a member.

How can you claim for jeans, why weren't you wearing uniform?

The dog shot out, when she opened the door. I was luckily wearing Jeans, if I wasn't my thigh would have been a lot worse, however I ordered trousers when I started 2 years ago, but only received shorts (which I wear during the week!).

There was no walk log, as it wasn't a set walk, there was no dog warning for that property on the PDA, but there was for others.

Yes I was injured. I will also need to get a tetanus tomorrow!

Even if a dog is on the PDA there's no accounting for morons. But if it is on the PDA they'll try and make it your fault whatever the circumstances

If you need a tetanus jab then you need to report to police asap and the manager of the office you were working from

Just out of interest as a postie who has been there plenty of times:

1) Did you hear signs of a dog being in the property before the door was opened?
2) Did the dog get you in the back or front of the leg?

I had to complete Erica, photos, address, times, dates, walk log etc. I also had to report to dog warden and get a police crime number. It was referred to a solicitor and I had to complete some form with a government department (can't remember what it was called now) when contacting them I was told they didn't do it anymore but I was constantly chased for it. Resident denied having a dog and she told the dog warden and police the same thing when they visited. Rumour was she was looking after it and it wasn't seen again afterwards but warning was added to walk anyway.

How can you claim for jeans, why weren't you wearing uniform?

Because new starters haven't got uniform issued yet and some regulars haven't had replacements for worn items, so if it is your personal property it will need replacing as part of a claim.

I had a pair of jeans destroyed due to my first dog attack replaced back when I was new. I showed the receipt for the replacement to the DOM and I was reimbursed.

No, I didn't hear a dog prior to the door opening, it was a large house, it could possibly have ran from a room at the back of the house, TBH I think looking at the old dear she probably didn't give it much exercise.

It was the top of my thigh, near my groin!
