voting no is agreeing with simons vision for royal mail the majority of us accept their has to be change but the proposals in which he wants to get on board with are laughable, seven walks to be lapsed with seven packet duties to be created starting at 11 oclock but any spare vans to be removed from our office, so the packet men have to wait until the delivery staff return from their duty as i said to our manager is this a wind up, no was his reply i have to try and put in place what i am told. their will be 78 of us voting yes and 1 no.

If you vote no in the ballot you are basically saying you are happy for the CWU to disappear from Royal Mail. You are voting to have no union representation anymore. You are going to be harassed for eternity at work by management to do more more more for less. You would probably be dismissed easily so they can replace you with an owner-driver.

I returned my ballot paper the same day it arrived. Voted yes, again. But I do question whether we will get the numbers. I'm also worried that there isn't enough traffic to make a big enough impact. Christmas has come and gone. Monday and Tuesday in our office last week could have been done in one day. Yesterday wasn't busy and people are getting a bit fed up with lack of progress and loss of money. A big issue is the age difference within offices. I really think it could cause a split within the union as older staff have one eye on the exit door within the next few years.

I have never understood why the majority of reserves are day off on Wednesday & Thursday? That’s the case at our office. Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to be regularly off on a Monday & Saturday when mail is lighter?

What happens now is that they are asked to work their day off on either the Wed or Thurs and are paid overtime for it. At a time when managers have been told to ration overtime, it makes no sense that they are not managing the days off better.

Voted yes. But have zero faith in Dave Ward and the mighty postal executive committee to get us anything that would resemble a good deal. Every single one of them needs binned and replaced with intelligent people capable of negotiating with a ruthless company like Royal Mail.
The last live Facebook session was a cringeworthy embarrassment, Ward and Furey trying to claim progress is being made(they did the same back in November) whilst Royal Mail released a workplace statement saying the Cwu won’t negotiate and that talks are essentially going nowhere. Also the whole Terry Pullinger thing stinks to high heaven, what exactly happened there? This union is telling as many barefaced lies to us as Royal Mail are.

The changes are mostly ok from my point of view and I’m only here to get paid.

You are not a union member, so this is one thread where your view is completely and utterly irrelevant. You aren't prepared to pay to have your chance to have a say on the union's actions.

Works both ways though, if he has no say in union actions , union members should have no say in non union members working which a lot seem to do with their childish actions like refusing to speak to them

I'm in the same boat as you, voted yes the day I got my ballot. Can't see as many doing the same though, many in our office have lost faith in the union including the rep who is actually against striking anymore. It is quiet to the point it's concerning in our office, too. Monday and Tueday's are ridiculous; people sitting around all morning not wanting to be out too early as there isn't enough work to fill their day.

I am not a union member but intend on striking as long as it takes to get the outcome which I find satisfactory, regardless of the financial implications. The way in which the company has treated us frontline workers is absolutely disgraceful and I’m not prepared to accept any of their changes unless it sanctioned by the CWU and it is reflected in my pay packet.
