Are we hinting that RM are targeting the long servers in a attempt to unsettle them? Funny enough in my small office only 1 duty being taken out and its the longest serving postie of 37yrs. Hadn't really thought about the Slyman attacking the longest serving members but it would appear, wether intentional or not that, that is the case. CWU should defo have a look in case there is a form of victimisation at work. They aren't very subtle when they attack us and if it turned out they were attempting to chase out the long servers by killing off their duties the pattern will be obvious. Worth a look.
Same in ours the two longest serving both floating now. Over 70 years of duty between them.
Bastards, are they floating on day off cover or completely shafted to being reserves with all the trimmings like always Tuesday/bank holidays as day off?
Surely someone must know if the coms were given that criteria when selecting which duties to cull.

I doubt that such a criteria would have been formally mentioned across channels because age is a protected characteristic and therefore RM would be in serious trouble if they were actively picking duties with older staff for removal.
However - I do think this is an area the CWU need to look into, gather evidence and potentially challenge the executive on.
Being realistic- a big proportion of posties are in the 50+ age bracket and with years of service. Theyre also likely to have the “easier” walks which would be prime target to be removed.

If it can be shown that these revisions disproportionately negatively affect older workers, then it is discrimination, regardless of whether RM specifically mention age in their criteria. Maybe they should have consulted with the union regarding the criteria used as, if discrimination can be demonstrated, then it could prove very costly for this shoddily run business.

Cam Postie, these are mixed, aged 40's to 60's with decent seniority, longest with 20 years behind him. Give the over 60's two years money and we will all clear off.

No, as a mark of respect, their day off is unchanged.
What we need is to get eyes on the document informing managers to take out a certain number of walks and specifically the criteria they were to use when making their choice of walks.
My manager has made it clear by comments that the decision regarding which walks to take out, is not coming from above. It is the manager’s decision. So we need to see the instructions they were given.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’
Interesting that it appears they are targeting us golden oldies, as for they can figure out who i am or not do i care and have i made a derogatory comment deemed worthy of conduct, as Rhett said "Quite frankly i dont give a flying F%$K", bit of poetic license there sorry about that. I would have thought this is worthy of union and a certain committee's careful consideration. Don't know if messing with the older generation would be a good plan for RM and even if they were they would never admit to it.
At ours it's the walks that have been languishing for at least as long as I've been there (2 years.) The ones that get covered maybe 3 times a week when a manager can find someone to do it
