For those who've had their walk removed as part of the current revisios...
If you’ve suddenly found yourself “walk less” as part of these revisions that RM are pushing through, could you post below answering the following questions;
• Years of service?
• Age (if willing to provide)?
• Do you drive for RM?
I’d be interested to see if there’s any curious coincidences amongst the current duty holders with regards to the walks that are being removed.
Hint to CWU - I think you should be formally collating this information too!

Very good thread.
I really hope more people answer the opening question.
What's really going on here?
Thanks for posting.

Are we hinting that RM are targeting the long servers in a attempt to unsettle them? Funny enough in my small office only 1 duty being taken out and its the longest serving postie of 37yrs. Hadn't really thought about the Slyman attacking the longest serving members but it would appear, wether intentional or not that, that is the case. CWU should defo have a look in case there is a form of victimisation at work. They aren't very subtle when they attack us and if it turned out they were attempting to chase out the long servers by killing off their duties the pattern will be obvious. Worth a look.

Again, at ours, they seem to be targeting most seniority on the whole ...

I’m not suggesting anything of the sort Scotchy… just looking to gather information!scotchy1962 wrote: ↑05 Feb 2023, 07:43Are we hinting that RM are targeting the long servers in a attempt to unsettle them? Different answer but in our office it seems that most pairings that are going ARE walks that don't do any overtime, coincidental maybe, or walks that have just one person instead of a pair (cos people have left)

Ok, but are these people under the age of… say 50… roughly?ANDREW CROCOMBE wrote: ↑05 Feb 2023, 09:31Different answer but in our office it seems that most pairings that are going ARE walks that don't do any overtime, coincidental maybe, or walks that have just one person instead of a pair (cos people have left)
How about years of service - are these people quite high up in terms of seniority?

Same in ours the two longest serving both floating now. Over 70 years of duty between them.scotchy1962 wrote: ↑05 Feb 2023, 07:43Are we hinting that RM are targeting the long servers in a attempt to unsettle them? Re: For those who’ve had their walk removed as part of the current revisions…
Obviously correlation isn't causation but the small sample of results does suggest one of two things:
At first glance, we might infer that RM targets older, possibly slower workers.
More likely though, these older members of staff have decent service lengths. This may have allowed them to pick one of the better (easier) rounds which are ideal for RM to chop up.
It's worked out nicely for RM that these two things tend to come hand in hand.
A criticism of this thinking is that the Royal Mail has an ageing workforce with an abundance of people in this age and service bracket.
