Shambolic.

I'm a little confused. I work a van share. When I scan the tracked using this process, do I scan them all using a single PDA or use the relevant PDA for each loop (my PDA for my loops across both deliveries etc.)? When we finished today, despite delivering everything, we had outstanding items on both PDA's.
The PDA data doesn't cross ref, so if one OPG scans an item and clears it from his own PDA it won't also then clear from his van share partners, the only way this will work is if the items are split between the two OPG's, based on what they intend delivering before they are scanned, then they are scanned by the two OPG's, a bit more time required to sort them but far better than the present confusing (and seemingly pointless?) process.

The big question is why is it being rolled out as I can't see what purpose it's being used for, as you'll know if you've overlooked delivering an item as it'll still be left in your van or trolley!!

If you just have to scan them when bagging up, it's not to much of a headache, apart from the tracked letters and small packets that are already in the frame.

You can't put any Tracked in the frame until you've scanned them, as otherwise the customer won't get the usual message that the item is due for delivery.

If you are on a HCT duty or single duty in a van it is fairly straightforward which is what this technology seems to be designed for. If on a van share it is a real faff as they have introduced this before it was ready. Why make the job harder?

They are expert at making what is a simple job, harder and unnecessarily complicated.

Wonder if Keith is chairman of a data storage company.

Not sure it's a big faff if you're on a van share. Even if the parcel you deliver has been 'scanned to route' on your partners PDA what difference
does it make? The recipient still gets a text/email that might or might not have an accurate time of delivery on it (depending on what Specials/diversions you have to do, what size it is). As long as one of you has scanned it to route and one scans it at the doorstep it's fine. I hide all
the parcel notifications that come up on the screen as it's cluttered af now. Just need to see the box and customer collections!

Not sure it a big faff but it seems pretty pointless as neither the OPG delivering on foot or the van driver knows what parcels have been delivered or still waiting to be delivered.

But do we really need to be told what's still outstanding? If we're organized we've managed in the past haven't we?

Do we really need to be told what’s still outstanding? No we Don’t do we.

If there are parcels left in the van, they’re outstanding. If there are no parcels in the van, they’ve all been delivered.

I think I’m starting to go mad. Why are we being treated like simpletons?

I doubt the info is for the OPG's as why do we need to be told just what Tracked still have to be delivered at any given time when we also have to deliver non Tracked as well? What the info is going to be used for by RM is anybody's guess.

Personally, I think that they think it will be possible to give the customer an exact time for delivery of their tracked parcel in the same way as when using RoN and only tracked are being delivered. I think the people thinking this, don’t have any comprehension of how delivering letters at the same time changes that equation, nor do they understand that for one reason or another, we might change the order of loops, or split loops, or do numerous other things that will make this notion a waste of everyone’s good humour.

The crossover of data between tracked and walk logs is useful for those who are not familiar with duties.

I.e a reserve or new entrant now has access to hazard details the minute they scan a tracked.

If I’m cynical, this also provides the company with a convenient get-out of any liability to self employed owner drivers who get injured/attacked by a dog when delivering RM parcels.

I wouldnt trust a pda to tell me of hazards, I've had loads warning of a dog at the property when there isnt one
