I'm suprised they cant offer you work that they've trained you for, surely they would rather you worked if you can instead of paying you to be on the sick. And you now have Class 1 so another string to your bow. Is your manager holding you back because hes losing staff?

It's actually not fraud as you can be off sick from one job but able to do another as driving doesn't cause me pain, ive had enough of popping pills daily to mask the pain and I'm only 37

This is royal mail paid for training and would rather use agency, I know a good few people who have been trained through Royal mail and not used, wasted money as per usual

Well yeah RM dont make sense at times, a lot of the time lately. How bonkers of them not to use your qualifications. I suppose if you stay on the sick they might offer IHR at some point

Picking up on the above post if you get ihr do you have to pay the money back? If so what about trying to push for it maybe your doctor would confirm that you won't be fit to return as a postie for the foreseeable?

IRH is soon to be off the table if you follow how the talks have gone

Apparently not if I'm IHR, as I haven't technically left on my own accord its because I can't do the job, I'm seeing if I can get out of the contract as it states 'once I've passed my class 2 course I would be placed in a mail centre maximum 1 hour away from my address', this hasn't happened so could be breach of contract, ive sent the contract to a solicitor friend to see what he thinks

So what will be in its place? Im not bothered about getting any money I just want out, without paying silly amounts of money to get out of my contract

Make sure they don’t owe you anything & just quit. They can’t make you reimburse them for on the job training… contract or no contract. Good luck on the other side.

I wasn’t listening properly to be honest but I think it’s in exchange for these concessions around legacy payments that don’t effect most of us, as I understand it every week you’re off sick will be taken off the 12 months of IHR, so I suppose the answer is really IHR will be there but much lower depending how long you have been off. I’m happy to be corrected

You are right ,I never new that!

I thought RM had a shortage of heavy goods drivers.
Maybe worth asking again?
