Are talks still going on this week, or are we waiting until the ballot vote is in to resume
I think they stopped in ST's words talks were going in circles over Reps and revisions.Set to resume Wednesday(??) over pay and change.

What does "come what may" mean?
I assume it means whether we have reached an agreement or not. It doesn’t sound like we do have any agreement at the moment. I wonder much progress has been made , if any.

No progress.CWU say no worthwhile offer to put to members. The strikes will continue after the ballot. This has been so badly managed you just cant back down to these people. They are treating staff very badly with no justification. Its all about "breaking the union."As we, their staff are the union, thanks a lot Royal Mail, but we are not going away. They could easily have took the staff with them on these changes,A decent offer back in April when inflation was lower, would have been accepted for most of the changes they wanted, but no, they decided to go to war with their own people. Trouble is i cant see the agenda changing even when Thompson has to go.
To “ break the union “ management will need to pretty much break the company . The reason is because the workforce is the union and without the staff onside this company is stuffed . Trouble is Simon Thompson and the board are too ignorant to realise that.

Their ignorance is born from the fact they've never encountered it before.

There's a lot of things that you and I have never encountered before but we use common sense or look at the experiences of others to make a call or seek advice on how to proceed. ST and especially KW may be many things but they are not stupid - they can look at other companies, the history of disputes, to see what happens in long term disputes - but they're not interested.

Once you ponder that then the inevitable conclusion is that they know exactly what they are doing. This dispute is about short term pain for long term gain. The huge shareholder bonus was made in the full knowledge that it would lead to a shortage of operating funds and therefore a clash with the workforce/union over pay which in turn, if it can be won will lead to long term gains for the shareholders.

I sense you are giving KW/ST too much credit, I doubt they thought ahead as to what would happen when the money ran out, if they did then they wouldn't have started rolling out the new uniform nor converting the fleet to electric vans.

If you follow my point, then further spending on electric vans and uniforms just accelerated an inevitable confrontation with the Union and the opportunity to break it/us.
