Knows what he is? Does he care? Does he feel shame? I doubt it. I certainly don’t. Don’t presume this ‘invisible’ man is feeling down. He probably doesn’t give a damn.
Not bothered if you cross the picket line or not. Just curious, aren't you bothered about the lies & greed Thompson & the board have been been exposed with lately?

He literally said they wasn't prioritising packet's over letter's. If you work as a postman, you know that's a blatant lie.

They also got exposed on criteria used for how they receive bonuses. Changed the criteria from company performance (standard across most companies) to value shareholders receive & he squirmed while answering that question which highlights he knew he was wrong.

There's other questions he squirmed over aswell but if you can take side's with them over that then nothing much to say :hmmmm

If someone is a scab then treat them as such. Blank them completely, they are as bad as Thompson.

I still think exceptions should be made for people struggling with bills etc. No excuse for anyone though.

Good.
Name calling has no place in an adult environment.
So ok to cross a picket line an expect everything to be rosy not saying name calling is good either. but you reap what you sow.
Name calling is pathetic. Ignore strike breakers, blank them, but name calling? In todays woke climate it could cost you your job.
And remember, it’s your picket line. Not mine.
Hope your not looking a reaction so some poor soul will be sacked?? Its a picket line not mine or yours just one you have choosed to cross.
I chose to cross it. I stand by it. I’ll cross the next one as well.
I’m not looking for any reaction. Name calling is something kids do but if someone was to overstep the mark with me I would have no problem in reporting them.
I don’t go to work for a popularity contest. I go for money and because the job is suitable for me.
What will you do when the job doesn't become suitable?

Perhaps I didn't frame the question properly.
I know of 3 instances in the North of England where posties (in their own named social media twitter and Facebook) have all expressed anger and disapproval of strike breakers.
All 3 of those posties have been dismissed.

The question was, are there other examples of instances where managers have issued warnings without resorting to dismissal?
This will be relevant when some of those dismissal cases reach ET.

Despite this site posting many warnings about the rules during strikes and what words shouldn't be used there have been people sacked during every dispute since RMC started back in 2007.

To add, we can't nor do I think we should, ban people just because they cross a picket line. I disagree with their motives and I do think they are wrong in breaking a strike, but in a democracy, people have different views and as long as they are expressed politely I think we should be open to all viewpoints whether I agree with them or not.

If people are banned just because their view is not popular can we really call ourselves a democratic society?

Finally, if people get sacked for calling someone names then, and I will be frank, you only have yourself to blame. We have warnings about name-calling on here including specific terms, and they are there for a reason. If you break the rules, you should be by now very aware of the possible consequences should a manager decide to take action.

Yeah he’s been caught out. He’s not a nice guy. ST should go.
I don’t see it as taking sides as such as the only side I’m taking is my own.
I’m not a member of the CWU and all I’m going to do is look after my own interests.
If the job no longer becomes suitable for me I will look for one that is.

Disagree with name calling aswell, but how can there be consequences from name calling on here when we are all anonymous? Maybe you was referring to Fb or twitter.

This isn't a instance in which you can say your not taking side's. Choosing to strike or not to strike is a binary decision (no middle ground) & not striking is in Rm's interests.

I'm leaving in less than a year so not gonna affect me I the long run. Wouldn't be ok with my colleagues sacrificing salary while I cash in though.

So you recognize Thompson & the board are no good. Are you not striking just to cash in then?

Got 1 at ours and he gets ignored and nobody speaks to him, he was worked near me and I just completely blanked him invisible to me, wouldn't resort to name calling but he knows what he is.
This is probably your best bet just ignore him doesn't matter if he cares or not just pretend it doesn't exist.

After all that, you are not a union member?!

So you are basically going into work on strike days because otherwise you will be sacked for not turning up.

That’s not the same as a union member crossing the picket line and going into work.

Non Union members won't get sacked if they refuse to cross a picket line, they'll just loose that days pay.

Why would he be sacked for striking he has as much right to strike as a union member has.

The above post is interesting. I went for years thinking that a non union member could be sacked for striking and that it would be classed as an un official absence as He or She could not claim it was Industrial Action directed by Union.
