Special delivery scan

Post by Gary55 »

I scanned a special delivery item before 1pm but by the time the elderly disabled person answered the door it was 3 minutes past 1pm . Is there a grace period. Thanks

It's the time you 1st scan the item that records the time and place, not the signature and submit. So I'd be pretty sure you are ok.

AFAIK the time registered is the time of the scan, not the submit time, even if not I'd hope your management have more important things
to worry about than a SD being outside it's time by 3 minutes.

Would try to ensure that you're at a SD delivery point by 1245 and account for any traffic delays, mishaps etc. If you're a trolley
round and there's any doubt you'd make it by 1245 tell your manager/give it to a driver. There was some sort of 'mantra' pushed out
a while ago that '1250 is the new 1300' or some such management speak BS for SD's.

I thought someone else suggested you have to 1:15pm to deliver the SD?

I scanned at about 1255 so should be fine but as mentioned the person took forever to get to the door but banged on window to acknowledge me. The com actually is quite decent

I've had similar, if it's cutting it a bit fine and you're waiting on a doorstep just scan it not delivered no answer then rescan when they eventually open the door.

Pretty sure customer can’t claim compensation if it’s delivered that day. Some duties are all over the place so it makes it very difficult to get them all done in the time frame on busy days. I wouldn’t worry about it and it gives your work place coach something to do if complaints are made.

In our office the manager says not to scan the special if you are late. Just write down the tracking number, and the manager puts it down manually on his pc for just before 1pm avoiding a customer complaint and compensation. Make you think what other figures he lies about!!

If customer is not home at 11am but if known customer knows your route and with p379 in hand asks for parcel at van, BUT IS LATER THAN 2PM, should you refuse or scan again?

That won't avoid the complaint and compensation as whoever deals with complaints will be able to see that it wasn't scanned at the doorstep

Do you mean 1pm? Past 1pm and it fails. Manager told me not to as it would need scanning back onto the system and even then it would be a failure, having said that I have done it :Very Happy very naughty really as we shouldn't hand out mail in the street

Scan it on indoor>enquiry office>customer collected.
