Well the way things are with the cost of living, and energy bills....you would be pulling all that out of the 24 grand. I want to use "their" money to pay for shite like that....they are getting rid of people on the cheap...had i have been 65 i wouldve took it...but they are getting rid for 12 grand per year...f**k them...it no big deal for me to graft it. Some would take it and run...fair nuff. As Robert T says....to each their own.

No offence but money is money is money. It knows not whether you have been given it or as you put it, grafted for it. The bills have to be paid so why not pay them out of your VR pot and 'graft' somewhere else. There's very few opportunities to get free tax free money for simply leaving your job early. Not that I actually know of anyone who has been officially offered it. If you have I'd have a long hard think mate coz your version of it doesn't make any sense to me, but each to their own as you say.

theres another 6 of us in the office who all knocked it back. who were all senior to the ones who actually took it. main reason being cos they ripped up the MTSF agreement which would have give us the 104 weeks pay. don't forget, their 'original' insult was 39 weeks pay (approx 18 grand) instead of the 104, but then they ''miraculously found' another 6 down the back of the settee. our view,.... f**k them and their insults. they wanted the older ones out as they see us as a hindrance (we probably are) but its backfired on them good style cos there's only 2 blokes in their 60s who took the bait. the rest where in 40s and one in his 30s.

Can't see the job getting any better, and striking won't do much now Christmas is over, will just save RM money.

No the job won't be getting better, but a better pay deal could soften the blows.

It's not about striking, it's about having a solid result in the next vote that will bring RM back to the table & offer credible rewards for the shite the rest of us will have to endure for the foreseeable.

you are also losing state pension money if you leave early, cos we were opted out for ex amount of years. on my pension forecast it states i need to work at least 2 more years to get the ''normal'' amount. why the f**k should you lose out on your state pension cos these c***s want rid of you on the cheap.

No offence but I think you're having a laugh with us aren't you? You're telling me you haven't got 35 yrs contributions at 63 yrs old? No way I'd have turned down £24k tax free when I was your age with no debt and how on earth are you spending £300 month on energy bills? I think the ones having a laugh at your expense are the younger more sensible ones who probably couldn't believe their luck at being offered a nice tax free handout and effectively a yr off to look for another job! You are going to go in two yrs and it won't cost RM a penny. Good luck with these last two yrs, you are certainly going to earn it the harder way.

My gas and lekky are 70 odd quid a week.....that's low compared to some.....no, I am not having a laugh....me and the others didn't take it cos its a f***ing insult and a piss take. They found another 6 grand to add to the 18 grand they were originally offering. They have no money for pay rises, then low and behold they pull another 6 grand out of their arse. They've got the money...they want rid of people, they should pay the going rate, the young kids have 40 or 50 yes left, they will be OK. Use the money to get training for a decent job. Us older ones don't have those options. "No offence" to you either but if you think it's OK for what they are offering that's fair enough. Hope you get the chance....in my view they can f**k right off.

If you check your state pension forecast, we were all opted out for about 14 or 15 years meaning most of us haven't got the required contributions for the full state pension. I have 46 years of contributions but I still will be below the normal rate because of the opt out.

The need to have 35 qualifying years to get the full state pension, only applies to those people who began their working lives after April 2016, and are a solely within the new state pension system.

Everyone else will have qualifying years before 2016 and therefore any periods of being contracted out of the state second pension will be factored into their entitlement. So many people will need more than 35 years.

In practice, the older you are and the longer you've been contracted out, the more you're likely to be affected.

It can be a very individual thing!
From his posts, Daveyeff is about 10 years older than me but with less service. But as of the current tax year, I have the required number of qualifying years for the full state pension.

Fair enough, but to use your basis for not taking the money because it's an insult and pxxs take is not very well thought out. You must have a very large and very poorly insulated house to pay £70 a week! Or you just have all the electrical appliances switched on all the time and likewise the heating. my monthly bill in this cold weather is around £150 or half yours. You need to have a look at what you're doing to save energy, if anything. Hope no offence has been taken . You have to do what is right for you.
