It cannot now be just us manning picket lines on freezing cold mornings, losing money hand over fist while the likes of Thompson just grin inanely and ride out any disruption.
A strict work-to-rule, a ban on all overtime, the odd strike day thrown in, has to be the way we now show Royal Mail we will never bow down to them and their lying agenda.
This dispute has all the potential of lasting well into 2023, even quite possibly right up to the cusp of the next Christmas busy period.
We can fight, and only lose the minimum of pay.
Has to be the way to go, now.

We also need to start doing things like the van check on the PDA to the letter: I noticed today that if you just check the thumbs down because it’s out of screen wash, you have to contact your manager before leaving the yard.

(a) My 2 questions were asked clearly and politely. Interesting that some see that as being ‘snide and nasty’!

1. Do you think you could easily find an alternative job - with a different employer - which offers better pay, or better terms and conditions, or whatever else it is that you’re demanding?
2. If you answered ‘yes’ to question 1, why don’t you change to that job?

I decided to take this job after weighing up all the pros and cons 16 years ago.
I had one child and another on the way.
I was working 9-6 so the hours appealed to me (I think it was 7-12.30 initially).
The money was a little less but there was always overtime available which I could do if it suited me.
As the kids got older I went to full time and the money was quite good (still finishing around 1.30).
Perhaps I should look to get out now as I'm in my 50s and its quite a struggle.The wage difference between other jobs/minimum wage is not so great and the hours are getting later in the day.
I think I'm a bit stuck due to my age and choices I have made. I feel sorry for the posties that have done many more years than me and may have made choices like I did.

This is a really strange first post. It's two questions that could quite easily be put into one question; for example "If you don't like the job why don't you get another one?". An aggressive and demeaning post. I hope you don't speak to people this way in real life, so maybe you'll understand why you received a poor reaction. Absolutely. Everything by the book, so they can't throw it at you. Ensure that the only thing they can,
and most likely will throw, is a tantrum.

Anyone who does not like the job and this is causing them to be unhappy should seriously think about getting a different job. You only live once..

Anyone who is unhappy in the job because the business is being managed by individuals of questionable character and ability, should leave if they want, or they should continue in there tens of thousands to take this opportunity to act with integrity and determination to defend themselves and the business.
